When people talk negatively about crypto its generally to do with some altcoin. LoL ! I suggest you visit Nouriel's Twitter thread to cure yourself of this delusion Hard money is backed by gold. Bitcoin is hard money backed by mathematics. Fiat money is backed by force. Fiat money is altcoins. Fiat money is scam. Fiat money is shitcoin.

Indeed. The main argument against "alt" coins is tribal, not analytical as is well demonstrated here

It was a thread about who Satoshi really is, just checked again, had just a glimpse yday. Deleted messages: Bitcoin Forum Guest Deleted Post « Sent to: Kylapoiss on: May 16, 2019, 04:58:58 PM » Quote Quote from: Gyrsur on November 20, 2018, 09:55:48 PM Quote from: Kylapoiss on November 20, 2018, 09:34:31 PM What about this theory: https://news.postimees.ee/4365547/hunt-for-the-world-s-most-wanted-man-reaches-estoniaEver heard of it? thank you! interesting! his PhD thesis is about Time-Stamping Systems which also was the basis of Satoshi's work. but again. if a conman is constantly lying about the origin of your work would you then keep silent and not telling the truth to the public at least incognito if you are still alive? If someone wanted truly not to be known, I doubt that any conman would get him to reveal himself. I'm from Estonia and it's a really small country, would be a bang if bitcoin was created here, though I doubt it. We do have lots of smart(ass) people around Smiley Skype came from Estonia too, yeehaw Cheesy And Kazaa and some other platforms from late 90's, early 2000's, which I think opened way for torrents? Not sure about the last part though. « Sent to: Kylapoiss on: May 16, 2019, 04:59:06 PM » Reply with quoteReply with quote Remove this messageDelete Quote What about this theory: https://news.postimees.ee/4365547/hunt-for-the-world-s-most-wanted-man-reaches-estoniaEver heard of it? « Sent to: Kylapoiss on: May 16, 2019, 04:59:34 PM » Quote Quote from: Gyrsur on November 20, 2018, 06:43:20 PM Quote from: Kylapoiss on November 20, 2018, 06:38:19 PM Quote from: Gyrsur on November 20, 2018, 06:34:38 PM Quote from: Kylapoiss on November 20, 2018, 06:30:56 PM Is there a copy of the post which CSW supposedly wrote? what do you mean? Wright then posted under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. I guess this means the not public claim as Faketoshi convinced Gavin Andresen and others that he is Satoshi himself. https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/81115/if-someone-wanted-to-pretend-to-be-satoshi-by-posting-a-fake-signature-to-defrauhttps://youtu.be/tEKw-6NEysA?t=12Quote I don't want money, I don't want fame, I don't want adoration, I just want to be left alone. Look at what he's doing now, if he wanted to be left alone he wouldn't do this whole BCH(XXXXXXX) shitshow. So there's no real evidence. I just don't believe that he could come up with something like this, his persona is opposite of Satoshi. « Sent to: Kylapoiss on: May 16, 2019, 04:59:41 PM »

Quote Is there a copy of the post which CSW supposedly wrote? I don't know. That's really weird. I suppose I would need more context on what the thread was about, but it would seem there is actually a pro-CSW moderator out there. Given the amount of absolute shitposting that goes on here on a minute-by-minute basis, I'm rather surprised these posts of yours got singled out for deletion. They seem to be contributing to an ongoing discussion and not just shitposts-in-the-wind.Edit: OH! It was a self-moderated thread. For one reason or another Gyrsur deleted all the posts in his thread, even his OP: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5002972You'll have to ask him what his reasoning was.

Oh Bob I do worry. I mean, I know it's only ~one coin, but I just don't want to see it losing it's value, thereby affecting your mood further. Ach you're stronger than all that, sorry. Last night's price hoik was fun, but are we really not going to have an ugly correction. I can't trust it at the moment, which is probably exactly what they want.

I feel there may be an ugly correction to $6,xxx but even if there is, would it really be a huge problem? Sure it’d be a shock but we’re on track to get to where we want to be plus I have a round number target in my head of how many coins I want before it goes parabolic. There are positives & negatives to every price swing. Let’s just enjoy the ride because we will see six figures per coin during this cycle, I’m certain of it.

Bitcoin is the least risky investment in a high risk investment category. Its health does not depend on altcoins, but rather the health of altcoins depend on it. This is not true and is a widely held myth amongst so called "maximalists" who tend to view the market through the arbitrary lens of a single asset - commonly known as the "monopolist" view. Diversity in the asset class has pulled in demand out of proportion to the growth in supply or the effect of internal competition. That's not uncommon in economies. I once lived in a street which had 1 coffee shop. The price of a cup of coffee was about the average for a residential area. Later another one appeared, then a restaurant. Over the years (about 2 decades) the number of coffee shops/bars increased to around 20-30. The price of a cup of coffee is now about 50% above that in other areas. A glass of wine is about 2-3 times the price. The influence of "competition" worked in reverse because the aggregate impact it had on "selling the street" as an attractive area to visit far outweighed the adverse effect of internal competition amongst commercial outlets trading at that site. That's what's happening with the crypto-asset market and is also why bitcoin depends on altcoins as much as they depend on it. Without technologically superior hedges, supporting trading pairs, diversified access to the crypto-asset markets, financial specialisation and derivative platforms, bitcoin itself would never have seen the growth it has. Wrong. Bitcoin is valuable because it has unforgeable costliness. Your analogy does not hold because Bitcoin has no competitors. No altcoin has unforgeable costliness. Whatever value Bitcoin has as a transactional currency (or asset, if you prefer) for sheep to pump altcoins with is marginal, at best, but ultimately will tend toward zero.
