SegWit was indeed an alteration of the Bitcoin protocol. Undeniably. There is really no way to argue otherwise.

I am pretty confident the white paper doesn’t say anything about Turing completeness, legally enforceable smart contracts, token protocols,  large data storage capability and all the other shit in Bitcoin SV marketing

What I know is that SegWit was added to bitcoin via a soft fork.
A soft fork means that it can coexist with the previous version and doesn’t require people to choose which coin to support (aka hard fork).

There will be a bit of a dilemma for me, that it would be better for me to attempt to resolve ahead of time, rather than trying to figure out that channeling of funds issue during another exponential BTC price rise, if that were to come again.

I quite liked the part about British men having been arrested for smuggling garlic through that border.

It's been like that since 1952 regardless of the different countries various and changing affiliations and memberships, and long before any single market.
The point is that it is neither unheard of nor hard to keep an open border. All you need is a will to do so.
