Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I really hope the major didn't really sell all of his stash at $4K-
The other day I stumbled upon one of the last posts of bones261 in another thread. It seems that he sold too. Not that he had a huge stash, but still.
I wonder how many other good people we will be losing along this bumpy journey. Will never understand why people go ALL-OUT. Why not hodl even a little stash just in case... even if you lost faith?
When I see the first pages of this very same thread I see a lot of nicks that are no longer here. It is easy to notice because there are almost no hats. IIRC jojo is the first one that appears. I have always though that most of them already reached their targets and are now too busy spending their fortune while still hodling a good chunk of BTC... Maybe reality is much uglier than that.
HODL.

A lot of old schoolers probably got bored of this place and buggered off. It's also more than possible that lots never had more than peanuts. You can be interested and not have any money to put in or not think it's worth it. And of course there was Gox and all the others along the way. I can't imagine ever falling for shit like the Bitcoin savings and trust thing but enough must have. There seem to be a lot of posters who automatically assume that if you've been around for a long time you're fooking loaded which must make those who know the truth groan.

Thinking about going all out is so 2015. (especially when it is down 50%+ from its ATH) That was the year I was afraid of bitcoin crashing to zero and I had no coins at that time. I was all out. After I witnessed the pump in 2017, I realized that bitcoin cannot go to zero even if it wanted to. (What...You thought bitcoin wasn't a living organism?) People just won't let it happen. (It is certainly not dying.)

Now, not so much. on thursday I actually have an appointment with the bank to discuss "selling my house for bitcoin". That is, taking out a second mortgage on the huge surplus value of my house, reorganising my debts and then hopefully ending up with a sizeable amount to increase my stash. I mean, the money is free man, 1.55% is less then inflation....

Interesting but does also highlight the fail in all their systems now.
Desperate free money to grow the book no matter what.
Just like last time, 5x mortgages with no evidence asked for of income.
When the music stops?
Negative yeid investment, take my 100k give me back 90k in 5 years, ok? ffs. pure "this is fine"

Exactly! It's just batshit crazy! The very reason my house is worth almost twice it was 6 years ago is this crazy low interest rates! They just keep on pumping and pumping money! I just can'd understand how this is not reflected in the (official) rate of inflation. If anyone has a link to an economist who can explain this I'd be much obliged.

His opinion of NIRP is the biggest regret I have of not asking a Prudential Regulation Authority subject matter expert. Other people were there I was waiting to get him alone. Then the day ran out.
Anyway its economics 101 WTF isn't it?

Your welcome. Just bc she is scared to come back here for fear of her old emails being released to the public by some unknown actor doesn't mean she will ever stop writing negative Bitcoin articles. We scarred her for life as we mocked her for being very aware of Bitcoin so early but never managing to buy any and get rich. She was bitter bc she had to wage slave away for a banker propaganda blog, she will always be a bitter hater, its not a surprise. I'm going to take a less popular position and say that she just needs some bitcoiner dick. I'll take one for the team if I have to. Bro, after "hearing" about her personal emails, pretty sure she really needed some. Shortly after getting doxed she literally tweeted that she was going on a vacation in a secluded cabin to get away from and detox from wifi. I think the internet kinda ruined her life bc she could not turn it off. She has written so many articles about how Bitcoin must fail that I dont know how she is going to rationalize the next few decades as we dominate the financial system. Her and Stolfi will probably meet up for a joint suicide.

I totally agree. I went almost all out in 2015 when I bought my Ducati for 30 BTC. Wow, I guess I wasn't alone when I sold my 20+ BTC for a stupid old Honda Civic back in 2015/16. I still regret that decision, and I still have that car parked. Today I reached a new ATH in terms of USD (the last time I reached my ATH was in January 2018), but I'm absolutely sure that I'll never be able to reach a new ATH in terms of BTC as I had a hell lot of 'em many years ago. Let's just forget the painful past and focus on the future. #StackSats

To each his own. If your goal was getting a Ducati, you have reached it, and that's that. The thought of riding a $300k motorbike can be upsetting though... Eyes on the road, ride safely! I don't care (never really cared) about Lambos and other pointless luxuries (OK, maybe a Tesla). BTC gives (will give) me the freedom to quit my job early, to pursue a hobby, to travel, to live life without having to depend on a salary, to be free, whatever "free" means to each of us. No point in spending it now on stuff I don't really need. Merely owning it is enough for me, for now. Enjoying it immensely! Even if it collapses (which it won't), I'm good. I'll survive. Edit: I bought my Trezor for around 0.13 BTC. Not cheap!

Certainly worth $300k. I also bought basically every other material thing I needed, mostly computers and electronics. But now, my goal is almost exactly the same as yours; work less. I like my work a lot, but 38 hours / week until I'm 67 leaves too little time for other activities. My plan is to get enough btc to be able to work 32 hours, take more hollidays and to quit working at say age 60.

This. Is. Bad. I wish that I had the BTC to set up a seastead. Atm I only have something like 2 bitcents left. It's one of the reasons that I decided to lose my signature. Gambling just isn't something that I should be immersed in. Although I will still be keeping tabs on the Game protect thread. (I won't become one of his clients though.) However, although I'm BTC poor, I'm rich in source merit to give out. I have well over 300 to give out.
