is anybody so kind and explain or send me the link to the DCA strategy please?

BTW, we should start something where the WO terms are explained to Newbies like me. Roll Eyes

Heh, not for you, Gysur, but for actual newbs? DCA Made Easy.
Dollar Cost Averaging: Buy some reasonable fixed amount, regularly. Be fearless.

0. Never buy/sell Big Chunks of BTC/$$$

1. Choose some vice/habit/expenditure, that you can quit or reduce. Calculate the cost on an interval of a month or less.

2. Choose an amount you could invest/buy on said interval.

3. Don't sell.

4. {Non-DCA overall good advice} Pick some small % drop that means "I could buy a little more, on the dip".

5. Examine your life. Sell some things (attic mining, @Searing). Buy a few satoshis.

6. Don't borrow money, overextend yourself, or buy BTC on credit.

7. Keep abreast of news/developments, but don't get emotional. Stand tall. We are the champions (of the world).

8. (eventually) have a goal to get off. Not sell out, but a small % reward.

9. What is your goal with your life? Be it lambo/hookers/blow, or travel, freedom from work, or a private island, we all need goals.

10. If you can't sleep, worrying about it? Reduce your position, but never sell all.

Step 1 is important, especially if your vice/habit/expenditure is unhealthy. Look where to conserve in small ways. Pick a 'red beans and rice' night every week. If you go out to see a lot of movies, pick a night to sit outside and watch the stars and listen to music (weather permitting). If possible, go to bed early one night a week, and walk to work, or wherever you are going. Limit your intake of trendy chemical amusement products.

For my own darn self, I quit smoking cigarettes, and spend that money on BTC. If it all goes to zero? I pride myself in still making my life better.

Re-reading this, it seems more philosophical than I am. I just got back from two funeral visitations from two friends that did not take care of themselves. You can't take it with you, live better.

Good decalogue, let me add one more point to your great summary:

If the news from Israel is to be believed, we're on our way to a vaccine. With fast track approval from the Ministry of Health, it might be available in 3 months. Someone posted an interesting link a few pages ago, sorry I can't remember who it was (not V8 though).

And of course they'll magically have a vaccine ready in 2-3 months. Right when the world stock market needs some good news. How convenient timing, eh? Grin

In which case Bitcoin will not go up. Fiat will simply go down.

In other news, watch out: Latest Mozilla update wants to route your DNS queries through cloudflare. Which since it's an internet provider means the Govt will be able to see all of your queries without a warrant.

(Run your own DNS servers ffs)

Doesn't Mozilla obey to your OS network settings?
Used to, but apparently there is a new "feature" where DNS lookups are passed to the "cloud" rather than going through your local resolver.

Thanks for the heads-up, guys. I went and found out it can be disabled.

With how things are accelerating with the virus, do you think it could be "over" in a way quicker than first thought, basically things going back to this being a "bad flu year" but no more going crazy with quarantines, closing plants, closing schools, stopping tournaments, things that are proving ineffective anyway, aside from hurting the economy ?

Use it people. And yes, they accept bitcoin and zero KYC.

+1
I've been with them last 10 months, nice service IMO. good speeds, great privacy, plenty of hosts to choose from. $80 VALUE paid in BTC per year. 5 devices, monthly updates.  Although I can't compare with many others, this is my first paid experience.

That's cool and all, but what makes you confident that they are not a honeypot?

Seems to me that running VPNs under cloak of shell corporations would be a high priority for prying eyes.

Indeed, the timing is perfect. On the other hand, this corona thing could be the perfect scapegoat to cover up the inevitability of a world wide epidemy of recession caused by the MPV-42 (Money Printing Virus), so why kill it after all?

The technical explanation in the WO posted link I can't locate did make sense. The Israelis were targeting an avian flu vaccine (chicken IIRC), and they found out it's very similar to COVID-19. In particular, it uses the very same mechanism to enter the host cell.

TL;DR I'm still undecided which conspiracy fits me better.

Intriguing. I always pictured being a DNS server would require industrial grade infrastructure. Do you run a DNS server?

HEY! Maybe my Namecoin will be worth something someday. Smiley

A root dns yes. Mainly because it needs to service a BUNCH of requests/s and also needs to have a BUNCH of zones loaded on RAM for easy access. But if you think about your own internal DNS as some sort of proxy that only have loaded some zones and caches all the rest, that is enough for breaking the relationship between your actual browsing and your (public) dns requests. DNS infrastructure has always been pretty much decentralised.

But again I say, how "convenient" that they were already supposedly doing this research and how "convenient" they stumbled on the same supposed mechanism?

This is all just Truman Show bullshit. It's a completely managed market now; they needed a correction (to take profits and reset their long positions), and they needed a FUD excuse for a correction. That is all. Same fake shit they did in late 2018.

They won't let the market fall for long. It's a melt-up. They need to keep pumping it, seemingly forever. Either that, or we get another Great Depression. The Fed will take rates to near zero.

One of my secondary DNS servers for >100 zones + backup resolver for ~80 nodes, doing 2 queries/s over 24h avg runs on an embedded 486-class embedded system with no complaints since years.

For home or SoHo, an old embedded system that can run Linux w/ at least 64MB RAM will do just fine.

i never considered a PC that was PoE.

interesting.

I agree it's fake and manipulated. My point: I think the bioweapon bat flu is largely irrelevant. They'll have to pump it up anyway, or risk the third 1929 or worse. Some crypto pundits are starting to say the Fed will be cutting rates to keep up with the forecoming bitcoin halving. As if it made any sense.

which just puts you back to the old default of plaintext (non https) DNS queries being harvested by your ISP

I have done a bit of reading and come to the conclusion that Mozilla is, as usual, the good guy in all this.  Yes, the use of cloudflare is unfortunate, but difficult to avoid, you will recall that even theymos buckled and put this very forum behind cloudflare a couple years ago.

The point about nefarious state actors now having a central collection source is well taken, but let's face it, 99.99% of people are not going to run their own DNS or a VPN.  If state actors really want your lookups they are going to get them.  This at least ends the casual data scraping by commercial entities.

Ok so whats your DNS after you disable it? UK people won't get the feature by default and have to manually enable it because government complained with "but then it'd be hard for us to monitor them"
https://www.zdnet.com/article/mozilla-no-plans-to-enable-dns-over-https-by-default-in-the-uk/

But here you want to disable it? If you don't trust Cloudflare (and i don't) why not just point it to a custom DNS over HTTPS server that you do trust, surely anything would be better than your ISP?

You really should be using a good VPN all the time with their own DNS servers. For those times you are not on the VPN configure the DNS servers for both your computer and router to one recommended by OpenNIC. Don't use a modem and router supplied by your ISP, buy your own.
