Spain enters official nationwide lockdown.

So does France from midnight.

Looks like everyone is starting to take this shit seriously. Except maybe UK... I donno if it is because they are doing good or ignoring the problem.

The UK is adopting a different strategy than the potentially knee-jerk reactions of others. Slightly simplistic use of props here but the message is accurate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl6tTwxzCi8

It may be that only the UK is approaching this rationally. Time will tell.

So you go shopping to the brick and mortar shop: it's a mess because you cannot simply go in: as a security measure only one few person can enter, so access is reduced, hence big queues. Also while queuing you must stay  distant. Result are very long queues outside food supermarkets (in a sense , now I understand those who raided shelves a few weeks back).

Something like this:
https://vm.tiktok.com/pa7gpD/

No idea where it is taken.
I live in a city, similar queues, little bit less daunting scenario.

If you get the chance.

Nice to see you back.

I think everyone should panic sell once, in order to learn from the mistake.

There is a science called "complex system theory".
The basic outline: If you respond to complex problems (like an exponentially spreading virus outbreak) with a simple solution, it is inevitable to fail.
There are many, many examples in history.

EDIT: And Boris is as simple as simple can be.

The weather also makes the virus stay alive on surfaces longer. Man, i hope you all get out of this very mess soon and healthy, i even told the kids that the annual vacation in Italy is likely to be suspended for 2020   Cry

Im a good bit of pages behind so sorry if someone already posted this.

Here is some serious Bitcoin Bull Porn right here.  Smiley

The (Central) Bank of England released a paper Thursday on Central Bank Digital Currencies, CBDC's.

https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/paper/2020/central-bank-digital-currency-opportunities-challenges-and-design-discussion-paper

Its long and mostly boring but a new idea is buried in it.

"There may also be benefits from remuneration for unconventional monetary policy. If interest rates are, and
continue to be, low then central banks are likely to be constrained by the lower bound more frequently than
historically was the case. A CBDC that could be remunerated at a negative rate  Shocked could be used
to relax that
constraint, to the extent that the constraint was caused by the fact that cash pays zero interest (Bordo and
Levin (2019)). "

They just realized they can solve their problem of negative rates. You see they would like to have negative rates as the ultimate way to ruin savers and force them to spend their money on stuff they dont need and stay living paycheck to paycheck forever. Bankers know if they have negative rates for personal bank accounts then people will just withdraw their money and stash it. Cash pays zero interest and defeats negative interest rates.

Their solution is to give everyone Digital Banker Bucks and when they wanna have a negative interest rate, they just make your Digital Bucks disappear over time in your digital wallet if you dont run out and buy stuff with it.

To confuse people about the theft, the devious obscurantists call it "Negative Remuneration."   Roll Eyes

Add that to the purposely confusing jargon vocabulary like Repos, Quantitative Easing, OMO, and POMO.

No wonder they freaked out about Libra, it was hard money compared to this.

Central bank digital currencies are definitely coming. ECB is going to have their own, Bank of England theirs and Murica is going to be strong armed into Libra. Even China has a CBDC in place. They are coming and your best bet is KING BITCOIN.

We live in very interesting times!

Now everyone will stay at their homes in the hope that things get under control asap and maybe there won't be needed an extension of the full lockdown after this 15 days pass.

Hi bitserve, to do it well, apart from closing bars, restaurants, gyms, cinemas, restaurants, yesterday, when the alert plan was announced, and the president said that "everyone stays at home", it is useless.
If you force a part of the country to shut yourself up at home, but the president says:

That people can go to their jobs on Monday, the contagion will inevitably continue to increase, he is stupid.

Spain as always, making a fool of itself due to its political leaders.

I hope that we can overcome this crisis without reaching extreme situations.

I think when he says people can go to their jobs on monday he means somewhat critical jobs or ones not open to the general public... most business have already shut down or slowed down themselves. You can't just shut it down EVERYTHING.

People know they should stay at their homes already. If there is some business that keep running it is probably because they NEED to... so I wouldn't force them to completely shut down unless strictly necessary (ie: after we get some results/stats about the success of this first preventive lockdown).

Business that should be kept running (even if at reduced capacity and with safety procedures):

- Health: Pharmacies, Hospitals, distributions, factories/producers, etc
- Food: Supermarkets, distribution, producers, etc...
- Telco ....
- Energy
- Oil/Gas station
- Security, police, military...
- Construction/maintenance (in some cases)
- Vets
- ....

There are lots of sectors that can not and should not shut down because we rely on them.

Right, everybody knows spreading is inevitable. Even B. Johnson.
But if infection rate isn't going to slow down very soon, many unforeseen and unwanted side-effects will accumulate into a BIG mess, even bigger than the mess we will be going through within the next few weeks/months. It's just a question if you want to get stabbed in a hand or in the liver.
But don't worry. Give it some more weeks and everybody who is unwilling to learn will finally do it. Even if it's in a very hard way.

EDIT: Avoiding closed spaces would at least help a lot with the spreading. The virus doesn't survive for long times outside. That's what the virologists say. As long as people are gathering in rooms, halls, churches, factories, markets (i remind you of wuhan wet market), the disease will spread, faster and faster.

Is it a complex problem though? Or is it pretty simple - a virus is spreading which needs to be contained. Time will tell whether "flattening the curve" was the correct approach.

Agreed - Boris is an ass-hat.  However, for once he's actually deferring these decisions to medical professionals.

Local bottom forming, and support strengthening, resistance remaining constant.
Breakout very likely, imho. But also a very good opportunity to counter-trade and dump coins on us.

There is a valid point of criticism on most decision makers at the time. They listen a lot to medical pros and virologists, but epidemiologists and economists are seen sparingly. These would be more important. So Boris leaves it up to fate. Well, good luck! The brits will need it.

A pandemic is indeed of complex nature, in all its details. It's defined by "uncontrolled" spread, world wide. So you can't contain it, just slow it down.
If you don't slow it down, you're fucked. That's the only simple aspect of this problem.
People will panic, hospitals will break down, their staff will break down too. China, Italy as role models.
But if Boris' experts are more competent that the WHO's, they might even be right.
But if i would lead a nation, i wouldn't gamble with the life and health of my people.

EDIT:

A Singaporean student of Chinese ethnicity is beaten up on the streets of London and left with a fractured face. The coronavirus risks bringing out the worst in humanity.

Landed in Denmark. I am very disappointed that not only was I not thrown into solitary to serve my two weeks for the good of the nation, but I was not even asked any questions or advised to stay home or anything. I have been in asia since december for fucks sake. All they did was repeat a message about corona, don't hug and kiss etc. But people at least seem to take it seriously. They kept a good distance.

Taking the train home, there is a new rule that you have to reserve a seat. But, the seat reservation no longer costs anything to make up for it. This ensures that everyone has plenty of space. Also, like 90% of the usual train schedule was canceled.

Getting rejected by the 200 Week MA and volume point of control on the hourly time-frame isn't promising imo, it was looking like a nice breakout for a moment there.

I also feel looking at smaller time-frames when the Weekly candle is about to close in 10 hours is somewhat redundant...

America is not showing a great deal of diligence with their airport queues.

People are spending 6 hours or more jammed that close together coming back from Europe which I'm led to believe is bringing the 'foreign virus' over due to not being Winners.

Sorry, i wasn't too wise in choice of words and i second your opinion. Not really optimistic.
But on the smaller timeframes: I chose it for visualizing the narrowing spread. Trading activity seems to be quite low, something might be in the air, imho.

Breakfast buffet at the hotel i'm staying at has been shut down due to Covid-19 fears.  What the hell am I gonna do without my morning toast and coffee?!  Okay guys, it's time to PANIC!

wait. no coffee.

not sure that even has meaning, i cant really get my head around it.

coffee is so essential the furthest i can move before i need a cup of coffee, especially the 1st one, is about 100 feet. maybe. and i need to rest and have a smoke 1/2 way there.

this is bad.

I only had to walk across the parking lot to get myself a double espresso this morning and on the way back, a hotel employee wearing gloves wished me a good morning and handed me some paper bags each containing a 200ml bottle of water, an apple and a blueberry muffin.  Life is good.  We have lots of food with us, but we wont have to tuck into it just yet.
There are very few cases of the virus where I am presently but I see the numbers have quadrupled near our home. Without being too specific, there are nearly 25X the number cases near our home compared to my present location and we don't have to be anywhere specific for over a week yet.

I quit smoking many years ago but I remember how well that cigarette used to go with my morning coffee.  Opening a fresh pack of smokes and inhaling that lovely scent of cured tobacco was a treat - it was ritualistic.  It was very difficult when I first quit to have that cup of coffee in the morning without my cigarette even long after the desire for cigarettes themselves had subsided.   Cry

Your opinion. Freedom of speech, so i won't comment that last sentence of yours.
Do you have a source for the blaming or have i missed it?

Apart from that, if you destroy china, you kill millions of civil people. If, and only if, then only the (few) responsible people should be "destroyed".
Think twice.
