Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Pledges $1 Billion for Coronavirus Relief

https://time.com/5817083/jack-dorsey-pledges-1-billion-coronavirus-relief/

My favorite billionaire just gave away 28% of his net worth.
Okay but... how about this part?

Quote
“After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI,” Dorsey said Tuesday in a tweet, referring to universal basic income. The pledge represents about 28% of his wealth, he said.
Those are feminist issues. And more to the point re: the virus, more men than women are dying from it.

Also also, UBI.

That's much better.

Uploaded yesterday, but he did mention a $9XXX BTC, so obviously a bit older.
Very interesting to hear what he had to say about energy and proof of stake.

+1 WO's merit damn it.

I watched that less than 30 minute interview with Niklas Nikolajsen of Bitcoin Suisse, too, and I did have the impression that Niklas comes off as a very smart, thoughtful and likable guy..

However, I think that he is wrong about proof of stake, and his stated belief that bitcoin is going to ultimately transition to proof of stake.  That is like crazy-talk and Niklas asserts such transition to proof of stake as if it were a given, but in the end, his assertion shows that even very smart, rich guys in the business side of the bitcoin (and ethereum) space, sometimes do not even understand what makes bitcoin valuable, which is proof of work.

So, yeah, that part of the interview kind of bothered me, and made me say "holy shit" on the inside (and now sharing such "holy shit" assertion with you lovely #nohomo folks).

I actually agree with you, but don't think wrong of him, he is only talking his books. It's not ETH Suisse. Wink
That being said, I cannot dismiss the chance of an Orwellian energy suffering world, were proof of stake can contribute.

In other words, even BTC needs a bitch. Grin

The current model of BTC is not broken, and bitcoin achieves its security and soundness of money and immutability through POW... it is the core... And, sure in 100 years there might be some empirical evidence that justifies some kind of tweak in which the transition from reward based mining to fee based mining is not seeming sufficient to secure the network.... but that is purely hypothetical, at this point, and there is nearly zero evidence to suggest either that bitcoin needs to transition into anything other than POW or the stronger statement that it will transition away from POW... almost laughingly ridiculous, which is the statement that niklas made.  He's just wrong.

BTC's innovation and paradigm shifting contribution to the world is figuring out how to POW, so why would its whole raison d'etre change?  Makes close to zero senses in reality, but might make sense in terms of some kind of pie in the sky talking point that does not understand wha the fuck bitcoin is.

I am pretty sure that in recent weeks I had come across a term that describes a kind of poetic justice that occurs when someone becomes a victim of the very thing that s/he has been denying to exist.

The reason more men than women are dying from Covid-19 might simply be due to the fact that me are the weaker sex with respect to our immune systems.
Look I'm no pharmacist, I'm just throwing this out there but we might want to look into estrogen therapy for our survival.  Estrogen never killed anybody (directly at least) so why not try it?  Of course any result would be purely anecdotal.

Still "karma" is not the word that I thought that I had seen... It is not a bad word to describe a kind of poetic justice, but I thought that I had heard some other perhaps better descriptor.... and maybe I becoming quasi-delusional.... from too much quarantine.... I will admit that much.

I thought the sum of your actions in this life dictates your fate in the next life.  I'm not Hindu though.
I'd better be careful, if I keep telling people what I'm not, eventually, I will have blown my opsec.

My apologies if this is is not the correct forum for this question -- this is the only thread I follow.  Just trying to get my ducks in order and get a better grasp of what I have in place.

Say I have some BTC that I've owned since 2013 and they have been untouched since that time.

Which coins/denominations do I have from each BTC I have as it relates to forks?

I know for sure I have 1 BCH, and maybe 1 BSV for each BTC I own, but is there anything else of value I should be looking at in case I'm thinking of doing anything in the next few months?

Thanks in advance!

I think something important is happening. From my list of 42 european countries for which there is enough data to estimate a reproduction number R of Covid 19, Austria has the lowest (=best) value at 0.81 (going down 2 to 3pp per day)

Yesterday Kurz announced that on April 14th, small shops will reopen,
then 1 May, all other shops
and school mid-may.

Is 1 May the bottom day?

 Cool

JW?  I do get somewhat regular visits from a pair of elderly ladies wanting to teach me the truth. No.
Scientologist?  I remember being intrigued by their offer of a free personality test when they were at Yonge and College. So, no but I would have gone in for a free burger which rules out Krishna as well but nobody would ever accuse me of being hairless... I do play a mean tambourine.
  S. Baptist?  I can count on one hand the number of times I've been south of the Mason-Dixon line - not that there's anything wrong with that.

Anyone else see their local hospitals doing layoffs yet?

White River Health System (WRHS) employees are making personal sacrifices to temporarily reduce payroll expenses. White River Health System, like many hospitals across the United States and in Arkansas, is experiencing the economic hardships associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the sudden drastic reduction in typical patient care services caused by the pandemic.
Friday, WRHS leaders met with employees about revenue shortfalls caused by postponing non-emergency surgeries, imaging studies, and laboratory tests, a reduction in emergency room visits, and the increase in expenses associated with preparing for COVID-19. In addition to staff who have had hours reduced, many WRHS employees stepped forward to accept a 30-day unpaid furlough. Impacted employees will retain existing benefits, and those furloughed have been advised of their eligibility for unemployment benefits.
“I am humbled by the response of our leaders and employees,” said WRHS President and CEO Gary Paxson. “It is an honor to work with people who demonstrate a genuine concern for each other and our patients. It is our intention to return to full employment as quickly as possible”
