Seat belts are leashes. This is how wild and free animals are tethered in the highway circus.  Roll Eyes

Just procrastinating before I get back to work, but a story I have that is barely tangentially relevant is that right out of college I used to have a job transporting veterans with chronic mental illness from a clinic to their homes after appointments. One patient was an ex-truck driver, and he could drive better than me without doubt, but he would never wear a seat belt. You couldn't make him wear a seat belt because he was in a horrific accident where wearing it would have actually ended up killing him. It was a freak accident kind of thing, but the way he described the situation his seat belt phobia was most assuredly warranted.

There's no analogous situation where wearing your face mask would have caused you to get the 'rona as opposed to not wearing it. Ergo, they should just be worn, especially when you are around others. It's a common courtesy at the very least.

Don't trust. Verify.
Numbers speak for themselves!
Reality is very different from what you've been told on the TV.

I don't own a TV. Any other cliches you want to throw in there?

...... Instead they try to go to the places where free and healthy people go and infect other people with their psychotic nightmares.

I know, right.
I go out shopping with my funny looking carnival mask on and tell all my free and healthy fellow shoppers that I had a really scary nightmare last night about the end of the world.
They were all like "oh now don't you go infecting me with your scary psychosis!"

Mask fetishism is a desire to see a subject wearing a mask or taking off a mask. The mask may be a Halloween mask, a surgical mask, ninja mask, gas mask, a latex mask, or any other kind of mask.

It's just sad to see this turning into a political issue.

It's sad to see people allowing their lives to be turned into political issues.

Facemasks are muzzles. This is how wild and free animals are tamed in the Covid-19 circus.

The future is ‘CLEAR’ and it’s Dystopian: Virus hype ushers in a Covid 19-84 nightmare of restricted access
https://www.rt.com/op-ed/497272-clear-health-pass-covid-dystopian/

Oh yeah. Trusting the Russians is always a great idea.

As for sacrificing your life for politics: Perhaps, but in this case the stakes are just sad as shit. You're dying for *this*? And yes, I think dying for one's religion is in a similar category of "you fucking idiot" but at least in that case you're dying with a promise of virgins or eternal bliss, or a quicker way out of the shit life you have. *

One's life is worth far more than promoting a KGB agenda or allowing a bloated Raj to squeeze one more bauble out of your departing soul.

* Yes there are religions that come with a guarantee: "Eternal Salvation or triple your money back!" But man, if you can't get someone to fix your car under your "extended warranty" you might want to think this all through.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still basically sideways but with a slight upward drift... currently $11761USD/$14742CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Maybe $12k over the weekend?

Seat belts save lives. So do masks.
That's so lame Jimbo.
How can you even compare those two things?

I could have also mentioned life jackets in speedboats (I don't need one, I'm a good swimmer!), safety harnesses, or any other life-saving devices.

I was comparing safety devices that crybabies won't use because they don't want to be told what to do by some "nanny state". No one's telling me what to do. Boo hoo hoo.

I suppose it was not a true comparison though... sea belts protect the wearer, while face masks protect everyone.

Facemasks are muzzles. This is how wild and free animals are tamed in the Covid-19 circus.

I don't like seatbelt laws for adults.  Basically why7  not ban motorbikes since they don't have seatbelt laws.

Facemasks are tricky.  You are asking to be able to shoot arrows into the air in the name of freedom.

Yeah most likely it won't kill another person but they could.

You are then saying to people that don't want to shoot arrows into the air stay the fuck home.

So basically you are the flip side of  ultra mask people.  A mirror image of intolerance.

much like the ultra right vs the ultra left.

Hi guys,

Typcroni44n shows up again, surprise, surprise... Returning pretty often for not wanting to be part of our boy's club, eh?  Cheesy

Well, the universe seems to put me on some tests before it might finally collapse on the 17th.
Wifey drove home from work, but instead of joining her brother's birthday party, she got into a car accident.  Undecided
74yo lady in front of her missed her turn and hit the brakes, honey bunny managed to stop about a foot behind her. So far so good, but the two ladies behind crashed my babe's car into the 74yo granny's volkswagen caddy. Hospital, x-ray, CAT scan. No cracks or dislocations, luckily, but severe spinal trauma. Now she's in serious pain, the safety belt left an impressive mark on her chest. She's in home care since today, so i'll be occasionally reading WO in the next few days or weeks, depending on how things develop.

I hope we broke through the $14k when she's fine again and i'm back posting my usual nonsense.

Drive carefully.

From your description of akky, your wife was obviously not at fault or tailgating (unlike the two ladies behind her who are at fault and most likely were tailgating) as she stopped in time.
Kudos to her and and wishing her a full and speedy recovery

And these types of accidents are precisely why I get irate at tailgaters. Absolutely no reason to tailgate besides being a moronic twat.
From my understanding, any rear ending collision, the fault should always lie with the idiot tailgating rear ender,
who failed to drive at a safe distance from the vehicle in front. (a car length for every 10 mph of speed, minimum)
Not the driver who unexpectedly slams on brakes, even for for some stupid reason like missing a turn or avoiding a toad in the road.

People that are afraid of being infected should stay home with masks, hazmat suits, space suits, or any other carnival suits of their liking. Instead they try to go to the places where free and healthy people go and infect other people with their psychotic nightmares.

I believe the conversation boils down to new questions.

#1 Am I responsible for someone else's health? If so, exactly where should we define that jurisdiction?

I work hard to maintain a strong and healthy immune system to fight such viruses, where beating the virus further fortifies immunity.  If the survival rate was less than the current 99.76% reported, lets say if there was a 2+% death rate or other significant chance of being maimed, perhaps additional personal protection such as masks would not be a notion of concern?

#2 Are we no longer intelligent enough to detect when we are sick or at high risk of spreading a contagious disease.

#3 If this is about our health and well being, why are those in charge of pushing face masks not recommending vitamin C and other immune boosting supplements to keep us safe. Why are sick people being denied Hydroxychloroquine treatments that have been proven effective?
Why is there almost no education on how to effectively use a mask?  I see people re-using the same cloth face mask over and over,  constantly touching and adjusting, tucking it away in the ashtray of their car for next use. It appears for most it's more akin to wearing a dirty diaper than filtering a deadly pandemic.

In my personal conclusion, I refuse to believe that those not using masks are somehow endangering my health. Because my health, since adulthood, has always been my responsibility not my neighbor, not my spouse, my doctor or the guy behind me in the grocery store.

We risk dividing our communities with dismissal of the other side's concerns.  Stay open, life requires balance, literally.  I hope we are able to find the balance here. It's not entirely a deep state slavery operation just like it's not entirely a health concern.

So.. we all need tests to determine whether or not we actually have this life ravaging, economy closing disease which has taken only our weakest to the tune of last year's influenza numbers?  Only brings up more questions personally.
