I miss the days when children women (of the non-professional kind) weren't allowed in pubs. They were one of the few day-time places where a person man could go to to be free from the annoyances of women with their kids running around. Now, there hardly exists a place where children women are excluded. I was sat trying to enjoy a beer in a sunny beer garden last week, only to have screaming kids running around, parents women completely disinterested in what their darling offspring were up to.

This is not some kind of an anti-woman “eww, girls, go away” rant; I dislike those.  Rather, it is an observation that I again find myself in the wrong century.

For a nutshell historical illustration of what I mean, consider that the American Prohibition of alcohol was in large part an attack by women’s clubs on de facto men’s clubs.

Whereas if married women (and today we must consider, single mothers) are ordinarily present in pubs, then you cannot reasonably expect to disallow children.  Children come with the women.  It is a part of a package deal; anyone who doesn’t understand that, does not know the first thing about women.  Have cake—no eat, too.  And if non-professional single, childless women go to pubs, then you cannot reasonably expect for them to suddenly stop doing that when they get married and/or have kids.  Life doesn’t work that way.  Eat cake—no have, too.

It seems that what you really want is an exclusive men’s space.  Perhaps modulo the general licence customarily exercised by practitionresses of the oldest profession.

It is personally bizarre that I find myself being the one to point this out.  I am by nature too much of a lone wolf to have ever much sought the company of other men.  If I seek the social company of human creatures, more oft than not, it is with the female species.  For various reasons.  I am too pathologically individualistic to do clubs—note the lack of a hat.  And it has been over ten years since I even set foot in a pub—I’ve got beer at home, where I can drink it naked when so desired, with or without company as so desired.

Sight is sometimes granted by distance...  What?  It’s a social gathering-place for women?  Interesting.  How can you not expect for kids to be there, too?

Aside, I am indeed in the wrong century if #nohomo tags are needed on discussion of men’s sometimes desire to socialize exclusively with other men.

You most certainly can (and should) expect people (men and women) who have kids to change their behaviour. They're meant to have grown up and become responsible, not continue to get drunk in bars, but now with a child in tow.

I'm not sure what caused you to go off on a feminist tangent - I love the company of women, especially in pubs after a few drinks. The children in pubs here are usually accompanied by both parents. If fathers or mothers want to go and drink alcohol in a pub, they should leave the little shits with grandparents, friends or child minders/baby-sitters. If they don't have access to such people but still insist on going to the pub to get drunk, maybe they should have thought more carefully before having children.

In defence of the children, being little shits is not their fault. The parents are at fault because they raised them to be little shits. My children are great, and they know to always be aware of other people when in public, because I brain washed them that way, and continue to do so.

Having said that I would never take my kids to the pub either, so I guess you only see the kids from shit parents there.

2 things that have completely fucked the world from the dawn of time. Shitty parents, and mental illness. Fix those problems and this place would be a fucking Utopia.

While researching for a post of mine, I discovered that those sad fucks at Grayscale earn 24 Bitcoin per day.

No risks, just sitting on their stash.

Do your own fucking due diligence, people, instead of being a shill for a political party that doesn't even exist in your own country.

It's been ages since I watched that film, but I remember clearly the bottom-line, which has nothing to do with Alex Jones, or any political party in the US.
This is what the film was about:

I figure the following:

Zuckerberg does it for the money and the pussy the money gets him. He does not have political agenda other than he is allowed to make a shit ton of money so he can keep his wife.

Jullian is harder to figure. Still working on it.

Indeed. And that's what concerns me: I like to know who is paying for the people trying to steal my stuff. Zuck is a simple money oriented loser. Asange is more worrying.

Zuckerberg does it for the power of the few.
Julian gives back that power to the many.

Either don't care about "money", although I'm not so sure about Zuckerberg.

Absolutely. The kids of such parents deserve some pity more than criticism. It's the parents who are the target of my rant.

As well as fixing the issue of shitty parents and mental illness, I would also add the need for great teachers who want to teach...

I've always thought that teachers should be the highest paid and most respected individuals in a society. This would create high levels of competition to become a teacher, so that only the most able teachers actually become teachers. And "most able" would mean a combination of knowledge in their chosen subject, an incredible ability to actually teach, and an ability to find and nurture the interests and abilities of each individual child, so that they enter careers most beneficial to themselves and society. Imagine each generation being taught by the very best teachers. Imagine the escalating benefits over generations. That society would be so well educated, so many potential geniuses and society changers. It seems that the potential of so many children is often left untapped due to poor education.

I suspect it's the same in many countries, but here teaching seems to be a profession which is looked down upon and is very poorly paid, one which people often enter when they've failed in their career or have no idea what else to do. Here, there's an old saying: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach" (of course, there are some good teachers who want to teach, but they're a fading species).

I'm sure there are lots of flaws with this idea, but it's interesting to ponder. And governments probably don't want to risk having to control a highly educated population...

Some people from government would probably come from that portion of the population that is highly educated. Hopefully. (Sometimes, there are uneducated politicians that get voted in due to popularity, like celebrities.)

(Sometimes, there are uneducated politicians that get voted in due to popularity, like celebrities.)

In my country mostly the uneducated ones get into higher politics because they are usually very good on making friends where they need and they can unscrupulously blackmail other politicians and bribe voters.
Also many are part of the old communist party or descendants of those members.
Celebrities do have a chance too, but most stay away.

And governments probably don't want to risk having to control a highly educated population...

Not probably, certainly. They prefer people they can easily lie/manipulate, people who usually forget that there are the same lies every 4 years.
The ones who think before voting are dangerous are are heavily discouraged.
Remember, the main goal of a politician is usually to keep his "job" over and over again.

I guess Mr. Carpenter was way ahead of the times. Unreal.  Roll Eyes

I'm sure I must have watched (part of) this movie, but I just can't remember anything about it right now...

Already downloading downloaded the remastered version. Will watch it tonight.

I'm a big fan or Orwellian-type movies. Should watch Soylent Green one more time. Watched it 1st time when I was a little child (parents didn't care much about movie ratings), and it has affected me in certain ways...
