I did exactly that. I told no one, for fear of being thought insane. Even I thought I had gone a little crazy.

I have no regrets though, even when I was down 50% in the first few years. Worth it.

Was there a final clue or push that gave you the courage get up and do it, financially move to Bitcoinlandia?

I just kind of knew that I was witnessing the birth of a legitimate new asset that Wall Street and the big Fund investors either still hadn't discovered yet, or were dismissing outright because they a) were clueless or b) couldn't game/control it. Most likely option b.

I knew within just a few weeks of research that it would become a game-changer asset, literally a digital form of Gold 2.0. And I also knew about first-mover advantage and immaculate conception, and that Bitcoin was way ahead of anything else mind share wise. Actually if you do enough true introspection/thinking, you realize that with Bitcoin there is literally zero need for any other cryptocurrencies to even exist.

So getting in on the ground floor of something this big, I just had to go all in, or I knew that I would have major regrets.

The IMF wants a new Bretton Woods monetary renegotiation Roll Eyes
Here is Simon Dixon unpacking the news.

Only question is: Will Bitcoin be allowed to compete in this currency war or will it become a target?

HODL intensifies!

HairyMaclairy is always welcome here, can return anytime.  Cool

On a slightly different note please find my up-to-date bitcoin regulations:
  • Be vigilant, you don't know when we go to the moon
  • Be prepared, you might want to sell at least some well deserved cash
  • Be reckless, if you see a nocoiner begging at you get out of their way
  • Be gentle, remember those freinds who gave you strenght during difficult times (for me, there are some in here too)
  • Be elusive, don't let the world get you have too many coins (not a problem for me atm, even though the price ratio will be an important variable)
  • Be smart, keep living as usual
  • Be kind, donate some (don't be a rich mfkr!) I personally did many donations over the years (one referenced here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1574482.msg15840188#msg15840188)
That's enough for me. Any good addition, is welcomed here or privately. Would be interested in seeing what would be your list.

Be strong, continue advocating bitcoins benefits and utility versus fiat in the dawn of this new digital age of finance

Weekend reading assignment  Grin :

1. Ted Chiang "Exhalation" 9 short sci-fi stories...I am on third, very good so far.
2. William Poundstone "The doomsday calculation: how an equation that predicts the future is transforming everything we know about life and universe"
It's mostly about bayesian analysis (Gott, etc.) and big conclusions from it. Super controversial topic, very interesting to follow and agree /disagree, would like to know what some on WO thinks. Only $4 at the Kindle store.

Come back to this message to discuss after you read 'em.

How it started / How it's going
@jhamel

Now I was going to write a long essay on the perils and frankly idiocy of carrying a surveillance device with closed source hard and software forged in the heart of the Evil Empires (commie and very commie), replete with references back to my own extensive oeuvre, some classical nudes and abstruse words, jumping down someone's throat who once said something in passing, but you'd probably scroll on by like the unmitigated savages you all are. Let's just enjoy this Bretton does a bear shit in the Woods moment.

I just want to point out that we are here talking about Elwar's Ship/citadel/country, saying no-homo a lot, banging our balls with steel plates and writing (mostly) horrible haikus, while all sitting together sipping White Russians under the shade of ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BULL FLAGS IN HISTORY THAT WILL BE TALKED ABOUT IN ECON CLASSES AND STUDIED FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS... ahem.. sorry... got a little overly ME there for a moment...

"And that sharp dip you see, students, around March of 2020 was a result of the Covid pandemic and resulting panic.  Economists have theorized that the July 2021 bull run that stunned the whole Earth and defined the first ballpark stable value of the Bitcoin network, was both delayed, as well as strengthened by that anomaly. By artificially taking pressure out of - what obviously to us - was the beginning of the greatest monetary transformation of history it caused an even more violent rocket launch of the total valuation of the Bitcoin Network as we see it reflected today.

This period of time was extremely satisfying and I am certain nerve wracking for the few who were fortunate enough to have realized what was happening before the governments and other people of the world.

Allow me to read you this old-timey "Forum Post" from a person named "Boblawblaw" As he describes a painful ritual to distract him from the bone chilling expansions and contractions of his net worth in those days, in which he used a set of titanium plates to clap together over his testicles to distract from the pain of those early swings. The actual plates he used can be seen on the Island which he left to his adopted children, in the museum they erected (no homo) in his name."

Lord Jesus... judging from the type and size of the scale (that's like a deli scale) I would think thats at least 50k worth of gold, lol.

Do you think they decided to rubber glove him because of the way he was waddling around... and how the hell do you sit?

Warning to those "Sell Your Gold Here!" businesses....
if a random indian dude shows up wanting to pawn a gold nugget in a hurry,
you may want to wear gloves when handling the product....
