If it makes your life complete and comfortable and like how its pleases you then you achieved something that I think 90% or more will never achieve....

Many are maybe wealthy and saying I do X when X happens and so on ... but when it finally happens is greed having the best of them and they want more,  many can never be happy cause they always wants more, I have decided for my self what I want how I wanna live and so on and so on... when I meet my goals I will not back down to much and make sure I do what I want, I already know I'm not gonna be the wealthiest man alive or whatever and I know that more and more wealth shouldn't be the goal.... Figuring out what one wants is maybe the most when one is gaining more wealth as he ever had thought before, goals are changing life opportunities are changing and so on, but important is to have some and when its there to appreciate them Smiley

That with some corn stash on the side  Cheesy

You know, this forum is surprisingly good for thoughts on how to handle a fuckton of new wealth. Without it I'd probably be rolling around naked in a room full of $100 bills or something.....

Not that the above is a bad thing, but it would require me to cash in the coins and that would be a bad idea. Better idea is to think about what makes you happy, what you may have always wanted, and not to let what you want grow into some weird next level of a "boat for my boat!" sort of thing.

Interesting stuff.

Some of us are selling and Saylor is buying...
So someone who uses a minimum of 1% of his sense will never sell anymore.

It does have utility though: You can snort blow through a $100 bill off a hooker's ass.

I was wrong, we are pretty much seeing that bottom again. Not that it is such a bad bottom.

Guess 50K is such a psychological barrier, it will take a bit of pumping time to fully leave that behind.
Plenty of people happy to sell at 50K. 100K will be a huge test when it comes.

Interesting stuff.

What you'd want to do is calculate what your annual expenses are, which are usually close to, but not the same as your annual income (from salaries, or other investments.)

Then you work from there, maybe if you are really into corn and want to live off it, you should target at least 25x of your annual expenses, as that is the normal number people go with in the traditional finance world.

So let's pretend you can live and survive on about $50k annually (current price of 1 BTC), then you'd ideally want to at least have 25 BTC to be comfortable for the next 30 or more years. In traditional finance, they expect at least 4% growth, so 4% of $1.25m is $50.

Expecting that while corn is volatile, it still appreciates much faster than 4% per year, so the rest of your stash should theoretically last forever at the annual expenses already estimated. If it goes up, then your stash might last shorter.

There are other things to consider, but generally that's part of the idea.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we're bouncing up and down around $50k... currently $49622USD/$62406CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Up a little since yesterday.
___

Dollar cost averaging isn't just for buying. Sometimes it's good for selling.

For the last few years my philosophy has been to buy whenever possible and sell only when absolutely necessary. Now it's absolutely necessary or me to sell $2m worth of coins by May to finish paying for our lake.

My OTC contact has assured me there's no problem as long as it's spread out. They're only open Monday-Friday. I figured the best approach is to sell a coin a day until it's done. Today will be the 3rd day in a row.

DCA at its finest.

Easy on the coke, it might wreck you faster than you think...

@Gyrsur, @Karartma1, thanks guys, for the useful info/links.

@Gyrsur: Yes, using Kraken, and everything goes through Fidor Bank (Munich). When you say 1000 € upper limit, you mean per transaction? Can I transfer, say, 900 € on the 1st of the month, another 900 € on the 10th, and another 900 € on the 20th? Haven't been able to check the link you provided, sorry if this is already mentioned there.

I know for a fact that we Euro-landers will face difficulties in enjoying our newfound wealth... I think the IRS in the USA are better. They are brutal and check everything, but at least they seem to be more knowledgeable and once you pay your dues they don't bother you. Or so I've heard.

I as understand it right if your crypto-related transaction from/to the bank is over 1000 EUR the bank is forced to report it somehow. this are just plans at the moment to go in this direction. but it will come, I am sure.

Hmm, strangely i only read about "bitcoin transactions with value over € 1000". Means that wallet providers have to implement an interface to track KYC bitcoin transactions over a value of €1000. I don't see tracking EUR transactions from exchange to bank here.

Quote
The government wants to restrict the anonymity of crypto payments. It will not succeed in doing this, but will only sell wallet providers and custodians abroad. Legal uncertainty will be the result. The fight against cryptocurrencies is part of the financial repression of this federal government. Only a year ago, the anonymity of gold transactions was reduced to 2,000 euros. With crypto assets, the government is now going even further.

It's more clear in untranslated version, imho.
It wouldn't make much sense to capture EUR going from/to wallet providers to banks, but they want to sniff into btc transactions, because they lack the ability to monitor money flows like with fiat. Prove me wrong  Grin
It's only my opinion on the contents of the article. I don't welcome monitoring and control of flows (whichever currency) at all.

still not convinced about the direction how it should developing (Banks included)?

And this is the kind of banker statement that makes me sick.
In my opinion, the "then they will fight us" era is still ahead of us.
