Now, now, be nice to Elwar.

I mean, seriously. Elwar is a fucking legend and, I don't want to sound like a fag or nuthin', but I think he's likely one of the most BTC-rich folk in this thread.

Compared to Elwar, I feel like krill.

Respect.

I doubt any of us know specifics, but he likely wasted a whole hell of a lot on his project and ended up being a bit of a bag holder.. so is he still sufficiently comfortable?  Perhaps?  Perhaps?

By the way, I am surely not going to suggest that Elwar is not a kind of legend in his own right in terms of being kind of unique character in terms of some of the backstory, but really legends would not be made merely based on their quantity of bitcoin, now would they?  Also, there are some old timers with a lot of bitcoin but have not really been putting their bitcoin to good use.. not suggesting this of Elwar, but surely there have been some BIG BTC hodlers who have used their bitcoin in "non-legendary" (or at least no deserving to be framed in a positive light) ways.

Even though it's no longer the ATH, I'll have another 50k party as soon as we're there Cool

Surely, currently, within striking distance.. though it did move somewhat quickly up from a $46k-ish base and up to mid-$49ks.. and to be hovering within $1k or so of possibly getting to, and maybe above $50k... .. I hardly have any predictions this time around, as the first time around I did consider that we would move fairly quickly into the $58.5k to $62k arena.. and maybe this time around mind be considered as the same pattern... perhaps?  In the whole scheme of things, and if we end up zooming out, our correction down to $43k-ish might be largely considered as noise (is "noise" another way of saying coiling?)?  Perhaps?  perhaps?

I don't really like when peeps quote themselves, but hey, I am still thinking about these ideas regarding if we are going to be likely to break above $50k, and what is going to happen if we do end up breaking above $50k.

Many of realize that if we start to get within less than 15% of the ATH.. then BTC does not tend to consolidate in that kind of price arena (at least historically there have been reluctances in that regard), so the BTC price ends up either correcting down or it goes to test the ATH again.. (so yeah, $49,500 is right around 15% of the correction from $58.4k)... so.. I am having some trouble thinking that if we break above $50k that we will NOT be going to test $58.4k in the coming days or maybe take a wee bit over a week at most to get to such location... but hey, my conviction is not really too many much above 53.6%, and many WO peeps both understand how difficult it becomes for me to make BTC price predictions of any kind of conviction when we are in the midst of seemingly BIGGER moves, and also I rarely get into a few percentages above 50% , so likely I am going to need to settle down a bit, to take a chill pill or something because CITTTTEEEEEE is kind of in the buttressing tingilies that I am starting to feeeew, because 53.6% is getting quite high and I am starting to feeew tooo convicted to a vision...

Elwar.. save me from my thoughts because surely a top had already been reached, no?  or Biodom, let me know if we might be stalled and I just cannot appreciate it?   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Elwar, many are giddy about recent ATH, etc. Can you repeat your story about 'local bitcoins gone bad'?

You mean when someone stole 85 bitcoins from me?

They didn't actually steal 85 BTC from me, I sold 30k euro worth of bitcoins to someone. It was at a McDonalds in Germany where I'd been selling bitcoins to get cash to live on. I got tired of a few hundred euros here and there, wasting my time. So I figured I'd be there for a few years and one guy wanted a lot of BTC so I told him I'd do 30k.

I'd traded with the guy before, this time he sent his "associate" to drop off the money. I had this bad feeling going...like how in every movie where it's the "last score" something always goes horribly wrong.

As I walked into the McDonalds there was some young guy eyeballing me. I went inside and it was packed. The middle of winter so everyone had their coats on. I sat down with the guy and we got to business. I counted the money, checked that it wasn't counterfeit, put it in my pocket. While I was doing this some guy kept walking past me back and forth which was odd because there were no seats for him where he was passing. At that point I just wanted to get out of there quickly. I released the bitcoins to the guy and got up making sure to keep my hand in the pocket where the money was.

The guy stood up and asked me to hold his briefcase while he put on his jacket. I held it with both hands while he put it on. Then I put my hand back in my pocket and walked immediately across the street straight to the police station to make sure I didn't get jumped. Next to the police station was where my car was parked so I hurried to my car, took an alternative route home and finally made it to my apartment. When I took the money out to count it again I noticed that they all had big letters across them "VOID". Fake bills that you would buy on a tour of the currency printer. All of them.

I went back to the McDonalds asking for the video footage to see if it was worth going to the police. The guy at McDonalds watched the footage and told me it was too grainy to see anyone's face but he saw when the guy picked my pocket when I stood up and the guy was putting on his jacket. He switched out envelopes.

Come to find out it was an Eastern European mafia type gang. The guy standing outside probably would've jumped me had I made it out. I put the word out on the localbitcoins forums and about 2 months later I was contacted by someone who said the same thing happened to him in Amsterdam but he jumped the guy when he tried to do the same thing and everyone scrambled. He said he had the guy pinned, he was whining..."just let me go please...". He waited for the police to come and take him away.

And thanks to me letting people on localbitcoins know about what had happened to me, I got thrown into a Europe wide sting operation that happened all on the same day where they went after people from the "dark web" looking for drugs and criminal activity. The German police showed up at my apartment thinking I was a criminal (part of the reason why I didn't report the theft in the first place...what do you know, they proved me right). They took all of my money, computers, and cell phone. They didn't find anything illegal of course, selling bitcoin personally was completely legal. I had a clearance at work, they tried to get me fired but my bosses knew everything, I was always open about how I got cash. From then on I stopped using cash altogether and went 100% bitcoin. They finally had to return my, now dated, electronics to me a year later. As well as my money. They had to admit that there was no evidence of me committing a crime. At least Germany returned all of my shit when they realised I didn't do anything wrong...unlike a certain other government.

Let this be a lesson...don't keep your private keys solely on stuff in your home.

Feels as if we are ready to test new highs. I’m calling new ATH within 2 weeks, who’s with me? Beers are exhausted, we’re within touching distance of $50,000. The correction to $43,300 is already greatly recovered, weak hands are shaken & it’s time to restart the pump engine.

You must pace yourself young Padawan.  I still have several beers in the fridge.

Too late for patience my comrade. I am up to my nuts in sats.

And you also totally missed that you misspelled "bears".  You know, Beers are in the fridge, bears are in the woods.

Yep, that's a classic short con, the switch only takes a fraction of a second. And yes you would have had the heavy dropped on you if they couldn't make the exchange, there was no way you were getting out of there with "their" money. So yeah, the localbitcoins is ripe for this kind of robbery which means you really can't do more than a K or two (not worth clunking someone).
