I am up to 41 Channels… Originally thought I’ll just use some play Bitcoin… 0.125… now I have just a little over 1 BTC committed… It escalated pretty quickly… How much profit can you make running a channel? Not profitable mate… fees are set so low that I need to make at least 500 transactions just to cover the on chain opening and closing cost… Still trying to wrap my head around how it all works, but from checking the big players, they seem to have their fees setup in a way that they are profitable straight away… Example, they are charging 200SAT to move 1,000,000 sats, my current channel is charging 1SAT… Again, wasn’t worried about the profit side of things, just wanted to play my part… I think I may have the biggest public node in Australia… according to 1ml.com EDIT: can you make a profit?… I believe so, I read somewhere Alex Bosworth was making $30,000.00 USD a month… so far I have collected 152 SATS in fees… probably spent about 5000 SATS opening up channels… |

Of course that +40% is probably the highest price it'll ever see and over the next week thousands more idiots will lose their life savings. Just remember, Shibashitonu sold for 100 times market price on CBPro for the first 24 hours. Then all the same morons that were attacking every CB tweet with "Wen Shib?" Bullshit were then screaming that Coinbase should be sued because their market corrected after 24 hours of morons spending 100 times the price available at any other exchange. So yeah, there's much worse than the one up 40% right now. |

What does it mean? Aren't we satisfied with Bitcoin's protocol privacy?
Don't confuse privacy with security. As far as security is concerned, I think it's rock-solid, as has been shown by more than a decade of failed attacks and attempts to break it. No issues there. As far as privacy is concerned, things are not so good -- yet. There are ways to protect it, but it's not automatic, one has to be aware of the various privacy issues and do things in certain ways in order to protect it. I think this is what's reflected in the poll result. It is the reason that Bitcoin "maximalists" like me still believe Monero has a role to play presently. If i wasn't so lazy I would dig up the post I made probably in 2015 where I talked about bitcoin NEVER being able to do what Monero does, and Monero NEVER being able to do what Bitcoin does, and this making them a sort of sibling pair. There are POWERFUL arguments for a transparent blockchain. Nothing will ever bear Bitcoin at that. There are also powerful arguments for an obfuscated blockchain to emerge. And though much less clearly, Monero is the winner there. (I saw less clearly because NOTHING is established like Bitcoin is, and something *could* conceivably knock Monero off it's seat as the privacy king, though I think it's unlikely for a set of reason that has a LOT overlap with Bitcoin). This has great implications and costs and you do not get the same level of security as you do with king daddy. Anyway, interesting poll. And I for one, look forward to the privacy improvements coming to Bitcoin. |

Is there any evidence for this as well? I can also write a lot.... Why would the president of a country lie about buying only $6.x million USD worth of Bitcoin? That said the transaction probably happened off chain with some exchange somewhere OTC. |
