... Is the news bogus? There is certainly reason to believe it may not be.
Some reason more significant than repeats of a single article that contained no proof or references? It wasn't a single article and it was also reported by one of the most respected news sources in China. More respected than Newsweek? Please. Tv in China is watch by hundreds of millions of people and articles are read by hundreds of millions of people as well There is 1B of people in America and 4 in Asia...The center of the world is already Asia and it will be even more Asia as time pass by in the 21th century

I did see a link to CCTV posted on TradingView... did not click, figured it was in Chinese anyway... but many people were saying the [practical] ban was being discussed on CCTV. Maybe I just got trolled. I´m pretty sure that the ban is real. I just don´t know if and how much further we drop when it is official. They banned another online payment service a few weeks ago, as far as i know. No big deal for them to close their bank accounts. It´s similar to the Gox diaster, everybody knew about it but denied it until the last second. People even sent money to Gox in the last days, when it was more than obvious what was happenin. The chinese traders will probably trade until the last second and further, when it´s too late to get money out.

I believe the ban is real as well. I'll believe some of China's most reputable news sources over the permabulls on this forum that have been telling everyone to buy for the last three months.

C'mon, bitcoin has a 10 billion dollar cap, surely can do better than reheating the same leftover FUD from last week. There have been multiple requests for clarification from Chinese banks and exchanges and all of them have had zero response, no official source has verified this 'news'.
Over weeks everyone that mentioned that Gox will go down was called an evil FUD spreader... I even made a poll 8 weeks before the shutdown, that was called: "How long until Gox shuts down" People laughed at me for not selling Bitcoin on Gox for 10%+ premium prices

Permabulls. You can't even get the term right. Fuckin sell your coins and wave them goodbye if you want. Remember when BTCChina shut down for two weeks because they thought they couldn't accept payments? How many times are people gonna fall for the same trick?

Well, "officially they don´t ban Bitcoin itself, they´re just closing down the bank accounts of the exchanges. As far as i know it is still allowed to deposit and withdraw cash. So Bitcoin itself will not get banned, that´s what they announced in their denial statement, so in fact they didn´t lie. No ban, just makin tradin useless.

Sometimes the story is wrong, even if it's a major news source, even if other news sources regurgitate it.

Let's say hypothetically that the ban is real. How much of that has already been priced in? Price has been dropping for four months since the first ban rumors. I'm almost hoping it's real because like Gox and Silk Road, we can finally get past it.

Mornin' all!! Can't really be arsed reading back through 20 odd pages but I think I get the idea from the last couple: cultists have their fingers in their ears, Chessnut clinging to EW for comfort while TERA is a lone voice of reason along with...Fonzie. Strange days indeed Hey Fonzie...where in Asia are you at present?

Why is it so hard to imagine that we will test 380-400 before establishing a bottom?

not sure about Tera, but fonzie here sounds like a good trader. Fonzie has good things to offer the forum when he is not acting like an asswipe. He has been better recently. I don't know why he felt the need to be such a prick when he first came here.

If I lived in China, I would be buying as much as I could while I still could . It's primary value outside of speculation is to take advantage of a capital control loophole. I know I'm somewhat contrarian, but the fact that nobody is doing that should be informative.
