Hey there, sorry if this has been answered before.

After searching through google, btct and various other forums, I seem to be unable to get a working flash on my RX470. Ive found several VBIOS from other users, but am unable to get them to actually run properly it seems. I've also made an attempt to modify my own backups with the changes made in the Various roms mentioned, my machine will boot into win7 without issue, but GPUz shows all zero's for the current clock speeds (this also includes Trixx).

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a working modded bios on to my card, any help is appreciated.

I used the polaris bios editor to adjust memory timings and atiwinflash to flash the bios. you'll also need to use an older driver to used a modified card (I'm using 16.11.5). remember to make a backup of the original with atiwinflash first.

does flashing the bios help those cards?  elpida ram usually comes pretty well-timed right out of the box, doesn't it?  it helped mine some, I guess, to the extent I get the same results with memclock at 1700 as I did before at 2000.  can't see it does a dang thing to the voltage.  not a ton of info out there on the topic, mostly talking about hynix seems like

I flashed one 470 with elpida and one with hynix and it had the same effect - increased zec sols/s by 5-7%. slight increase in power draw at the wall.

like AARosie said, modify your own bios, its the safest bet that it will work.
You just back it up with Atiflash, modify the memory timings with Polariseditor and reflash with Atiflash again.
It's realy easy, and the card has a dual bios so you really cant brake anything.

I flashed my MSI Gaming X 470 4Gb's with Hynix using a custom rom I made and I get a solid 27MH out of them so that should give you an idea of the performance you can get out of a 470 with a custom rom. The stock bios without any overclocking only did 20MH

In regards to OP's question:

Flashing a GPU properly requires several steps. Creating your own custom rom requires even more steps.

There are a lot of YouTube videos and other guides out there that show you some basic premise of how to mod a GPU Bios but you should always take note that mistakes can either brick your card or cause permanent damage to it so I recommend you do a substantial amount of research before you attempt to do this.

My recommendation is look for bios mods for other 470 cards with 4GB elpida memory, analyze the bios modifications made in those roms and then compare them the information found in your stock bios. Use this as a basis for modifications on your own card.

Thanks AARosie, for a solution. I was trying to get it working using the new drivers (17.2.1). Switching to older drivers has resolved the issue.
