What is up Alfred? Im a senior in college in the US. Im a finance major so i decided to start up a stock portfolio a few months back. I got it to around $900 and then i got interested in cryptos since my buddy was making insane returns. Let me put it simply:

The best hedge funds in the United States can grab around 10% a year on stocks (if they are lucky), some can get 20+% but thats usually a one time thing. Cryptos can fairly easily turn 5-10x profit, or even more, depending on what you invest in and how you do it. All things said, I moved my money out of my stock portfolio into cryptos and in just a week or two have already gone up around 40-50%. The risk and volatility is here, for sure, but the returns are honestly once in a life time.

Be smart and do your due diligence, we are lucky to be in this situation because this is the forefront of something huge in the coming years.

Good luck sir.
Thank you.  Smiley

I hope you don't mind if I have a couple of questions for you: Which cryptos do you currently have in your portafolio? Do you see Bancor as a potentially good investment?

All other ethereum tokens are at an ETH loss since crowdsale (most at double-digit % ETH loss).  For the people saying "just invest your fiat":  you would have been better off storing your $ on the ethereum chain in the form of ETH in all other cases besides these 6 profitable tokens.
This is not surprising considering ETH returned >3000% YTD.
We could also call ETH down double digits compared to Stratis. So you would have been better off storing your ETH money in Stratis.

Just because ETH is up a lot doesnt mean that the rest is bad. Being up 10-20 times is usually considered pretty good for any investment even if others are up even more.

That would be hedging capital onto a separate blockchain.  It makes sense to analyze ethereum tokens using their ETH ratio as reference because they are stored in the same addresses and exposed to the same underlying risk of the Ethereum blockchain as an ETH holding.

Ethereum tokens also have ETH trading pairs on several exchanges.

I think it's important to understand how the Protocol will function before making rudimentary assessments of the crowdsale structure. If one actually reads and comprehends the whitepaper, it will be understood that the more value that goes into the protocol, the better. More capital to support projects and fund the initial token changers will allow for the initial Bancor network mesh to be much stronger.

A limited cap is essential when the main use of proceeds are for application development. If that is the case, there is no essential use for all of the other capital, which could be considered greedy. The app should be built. Revenue should be generated that should make the project sustainable without excess capital. This is not the case with Bancor, which is a protocol with a v1 that is essentially already built and is a tool that provides/creates liquidity.

Regarding CRR, keep in mind that all other tokens until this point have no CRR. That means that no matter what Bancor chose as their reserve, the instant liquidity is something no one else has ever provided.

I would totally agree with this, if it wasn't for the fact that only 30% of the ETH raised goes toward CRR and seeding token changers.

I just read this on youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s6iMaS1Ewo

Quote
you should review it now that they have announced a price of 100 bancor / 1 eth ($2.47 currently) AND NO CAP. Apparently they have a "hidden" cap that they will stop at LOLOLOLOLOL This isn't an ICO it's a get rich fast scam by the bancor team. Galia said she doesn't want investors to make money herself..
Quote
It was on the telegram group which I have left, but on slack Eyal pasted a more refined version of the crap:

"1. The most critical thing for us is to make sure that those who took the time to research and understand Bancor prior to the fundraiser will be able to participate. This is the reason behind the 1h minimum time.

2. This is not a fundraiser for quick-flip investors wanting to get in and make a quick profit. That is not the goal of the protocol, the foundation, the team, the product or the project.

3. A large fundraiser will mean a large reserve (more liquidity, less volatility) and more resources to make Bancor a success, which we have detailed plans to implement. More bounties, more community grants, more explanatory events, etc. We believe this is in the best interest of the contributors and the project, and we are the right team to execute this vision. For those looking to hold their tokens, which are the kind of contributors we are optimizing for, this seems to us the best configuration and we are doing careful planning for the spectrum of outcomes.

4. Re Bitcoin suisse, we created this option for those who wanted additional assistance or additional currencies with which to fund. As the terms structure was being delayed, we heard from many that they wanted to contribute no matter what, and were eager for an option to come online. There is no advantage to Bancor of having these funds come in early as they are held in escrow. There are no discounts or other contingencies. There was a preset amount allocated to this option which may or may not be filled, and has no material impact on the fundraiser nor it’s cap. It’s unfortunate to hear that some are frustrated with this option, as we truly set it up to be a helpful mechanism for those who wanted it, and to calm concerns about not getting in before we were able to share our minimum hour mechanism. This was also intended for those who knew they couldn’t be available later in the month regardless of a cap or no cap. That all said, If anyone feels slighted by the unfolding of events and would like to withdraw their ETH from bitcoin suisse, we have decided to cover the fee penalties ourselves.

5. Re Protocol in this group, we welcome all opinions. However, we insist on healthy and respectful dialogue, and will not tolerate unproductive behavior. Bancor is clearly not a scam. We can agree to disagree on points, and we can be convinced of points we’ve overlooked, but we’d like to keep the discussion here constructive and not further feed the frenzy engine that has plagued so many projects before us, and prevents both us and you from getting value from this forum. We will be banning users who do not adhere to this protocol, and again we welcome respectful dialogue on all points."

Now, let's analyse their bullshit.

1. EVERYONE is able to participate and has been able to participate for over a week via bitcoinsuisee.ch/bancor where people can pay in CFH, GBP, EUR, USD, DKK, SDG, Ether or Bitcoins, meaning the 1 hour un-limited cap is COMPLETE BS!

2. So this isn't a fund raiser the INVESTORS, the people who believe in you and want to help you secure funds so that you can get it off the ground and turn it into a viable project. The truth is this is purely for the greedy bancor team to get rich.

3. They believe that it is in the investors interest to have an UNCAPPED ICO, or as they put it with a "hidden cap" (LOLOLOLOLOLLOL), so that they don't make a ROI or maybe even their money back. 4. Here they are making out that investors are angry that we have bitsuisse as an option, this is BS, nobody said that. We are also told that the funds raised via bitsuisse, " has no material impact on the fundraiser nor it’s cap" - WTF? So regardless of how much is raised, it doesn't affect the cap? Off course it doesn't - because you don't have a cap, you will see how it goes and when the investments start slowing down you will say that you've reached 80% of your imaginary cap. IN A REGULATED MARKED THIS WOULD BE ILLEGAL.

5. If you question them or state that you are not happy with this shambles of an ICO scam they will eject you, what can I say.. disagree and you're out.. very classy. Instead of using the ICO to raise funds to support the project, they are using it to get rich quick.

I've read in previous messages in this thread how some people were not happy about this "hidden cap" issue either. But at the same time I'm reading good things and many people are saying that they will invest on this (not just here, but also in other message boards), so I'm not sure what to think.  Undecided

BTW, english is not my native language, so sorry if my english is not correct sometimes.  Wink

Having read through https://blog.bancor.network/bancor-network-token-bnt-contribution-token-creation-terms-48cc85a63812 it looks like you are adjusting down the CRR from 20% to 10%. What will you do with the unallocated 10% ETH?

Also, if they feel a need to adjust it at this late hour, what will the effect of it being "After the pilot period the CRR will be immutably set"
will this not be detrimental?
i think that devs have some smart thoughts on this. As for me, their decision about ICO terms are right. But at first it was a little hard for understanding for me.
Maybe Devs could share them....
Arhh well another day, another ico!

I hope you don't mind if I have a couple of questions for you: Which cryptos do you currently have in your portafolio? Do you see Bancor as a potentially good investment?

Well right now i have some golem, Aragon, and i managed to get some BAT right after it hit Liqui (small exchange). I also got into MYST when it ICOd but they are yet to be listed (supposed to be listed next Tuesday).

And for the other question, yes most definitely i do. Since Im a finance major i see how this is like ETFs for but for coins, and you can pretty much create your own token that has whatever coins you like, it allows you to diversify. I also like the way that each smart token created will create value for Bancor investors, as BNT (their token) will also be included in each smart token created.

Im pretty confident this will be super hyped up and im going to throw my money at it and hold long term. Im hoping for anywhere from 10-20x my money. It is wishful thinking but i think long term this has the potential to rise in market cap to a top 20, top 10 coin.

I'm going to invest in this ico, probably the best 2017 opportunity from now.

I already had through Bitcoinsuisse made reserve some tokens for me because I'm lazy to take action on time. I think this will be get finished very quickly so better by from this site.

I already submit the application for reserve some tokens but no any response till now. Do you receive the reply email?

No Cap or 'Secret Cap', I laughed a lot.

The NXT monetary system has allowed token issuers to back their tokens with a reserve of NXT since 2015.

https://nxtwiki.org/wiki/Monetary_System

Quote
Reservable If Reservable is checked, two extra fields appear:

UNITS TO RESERVE: This is the total amount of the currency to reserve, the reserve supply...

MINIMUM AMOUNT OF NXT PER WHOLE UNIT NEEDED TO ACTIVATE CURRENCY: Assuming the ....

Claimable: Claimable currencies are reservable currencies that allow the locked NXT reserves that back them to be claimed, meaning that a current holder of a claimable currency can exchange it for the locked NXT that backs it, in doing so reducing the Current Supply shown on the All Currencies Screen.

New tokens backed by the more larger and liquid NXT token did not appear to provide any greater liquidity or achieve much traction in the marketplace as evidenced by their lack of popularity today. So I can't see an ETH/other reserve token being much different. (The tokens were simply worth whatever the market valued the token at anyway + the amount of reserve currency the token was redeemable for or backed by with no/low liquidity/volume advantage.)

I will read up on the CRR mechanism and how it plans it to do the job better.

Those already exist too I believe and aren't just limited to ERC20 tokens. The BitShares Bit20 has been running since last year...

On the 21st day of every month, Bit20 runs an algorithm that creates its new composition. By this process, it always includes the most promising coins. Some coins appear in the index and others disappear. Some of them gain weight and other lose some of it. This new composition swap with the previous one without any disturbance of the index price.

We have run this operation yesterday. Here is the new composition of the Bit20 Index Fund:

BTC / 20065294344 USD / 10 % / 0.87291578470716 coins / 1232.16 USD

The composition is sent in the BitShares Blockchain so the witnesses can read it and publish the price in the decentralised exchange. This system guarantees decentralisation and prevent any market manipulation. Here it is:

You will find on the website the composition with the updated price of each coin and the total value of the index

The composition is sent in the BitShares Blockchain so the witnesses can read it and publish the price in the decentralised exchange. This system guarantees decentralisation and prevent any market manipulation. Here it is:
http://cryptofresh.com/u/bittwenty.feed

You will find on the website the composition with the updated price of each coin and the total value of the index

http://www.bittwenty.com

If you can link me to some better resources on the site, I will be able to judge better.

I really don't care if it already exists, because in a flash it will
Be dominated. Just by the money that is going to be thrown at this project. The exposure alone.
