Yea, but the "shitty" thing is it only falls when everything else falls too. Meaning when I see cheaper ICN I'm like "Oh ICN has gone cheap, time to buy some, lets see how many I can buy". Then I do some calculations and it turns out I can always buy about as many ICN as I could have bought before the current mass sell off, cause my ETH for example has also gone cheaper

Not sure it always keeps the same ratio. I think eth goes down less than ICN and other erc-20

In this situation you have to buy using fiat obviously. Now is a good time to buy everything tbh.

Since our ICO, the value of ICN has appreciated to the level where we are now reducing the ICN transaction fee. Instead of 1 ICN per withdrawal, the fee for ICN withdrawals will be 0.1 ICN per transaction.

Since our ICO, the value of ICN has appreciated to the level where we are now reducing the ICN transaction fee. Instead of 1 ICN per withdrawal, the fee for ICN withdrawals will be 0.1 ICN per transaction.

This is exactly why buy backs don't work. Who cares if ICN is valued at 10$ and the cost of using it is reduced. The whole utility factor.

If all the ICN in the world spare 1 is burned they just reduce the rate to .00000001 ICN for transaction fees. Don't get me wrong, I still hold hundreds and want it to appreciate but I still fail to see why this should rise given the fact that the shares don't represent ownership or airdrops. Airdrops happen on the bitshares dex is you hold obits or several other tokens. It's totally possible to do it if the shares aren't on an exchange which decreases liquidity and increases value

Lets just hope this BTC hardfork business goes through quickly and smoothly. The sooner this is forgotten, the sooner we can get back to steady rise for all the crypto economy.

A new Wannacry type worldwide virus attack might help bringing the media spotlight back on us and thus increasing the flow of new money. This will all benefit ICN, considering the wide range of cryptos managed by the fund.

I've pondered on this too, but the same case could be made for many tokens with a fixed/capped supply. The supply reduction only speeds up this process. Even inflationary tokens will do this, as their values are currently still increasing in $ value (well, they were until recently )

If I wanted 1 bitcoin for my computer last year, you might have paid it. If I asked for 1 bitcoin for it now, you'd laugh at me (plus the computer would be more dated, but let's ignore that!)

You might be right that it won't work. I'm not sure. This was never part of the original plan (at least not as we know it), so it does seem like it's been "thrown together" on a platform that was never built with this buyback/utility system in mind.

I suppose we'll have to wait and see just what this utility is, before making a final judgement. It could be that you need a large amount of ICN in lock-up, in order to run a DAA (like a masternode type thing). Jani has also said that those with a lot of ICN will be able to join the ICO investing service (where you can have your funds sent with theirs, when an ICO is likely to sell out fast)

As far as I understand it, the consumer-facing aspect of Iconomi is to buy into DAAs - not to create them. I expect anybody creating them will already be familiar with crypto, and ICN's usage will make enough sense to them. I don't imagine an end user will ever need to buy/use ICN for anything, so its fluctuating value won't be a concern there. The end user will never have to worry about ICN - they'll be buying ICNX, or whatever.
