When i first got on the bitcoin bandwagon privacy was the most touted reason however every exchange tries to make me jump hoops to allow to buy bitcoins from them and the country that I am in only has afew small very low activity exchanges.

Are there any exchanges which allow anonymous purchases without much paperwork? I do not mind giving my ID if i actually do high volume with an exchange but even to buy a small amount they ask for my picture, my picture with words and date, my bank statements  etc, wheres the privacy?!

I could never understand localbitcoins the prices seem so high for me to buy from them and so low to sell to them yet the users seem to be transacting there, i can only assume the activity is probably through forums like these instead of those ads which people are posting, afterall who in the right mind would buy a bitcoin which costs easily 3-5% more then the normal rates?

What are the average transaction rates for bitcoin mixers? So far i found 1 charging 1%, but i think it seems a little high...

Most of exchange are now implementing KYC(know your customer) policy. Only few decentralised exchange are existing. Bitsquare.io, coinffeine.com or bcexchange.org. Those are decentralised exchange which you can buy bitcoin privately. But i dont guarantee you that those are good. Better go to localbitcoins.com and look for person to buy bitcoin directly.

when you are using fiat deposits then you have to "jump through hoops", they do this to protect themselves from getting scammed and also to follow the money laundering laws. if you don't mind giving up your ID then there are a lot of different exchanges that you can use. coinbase, bitstamp, cex.io, kraken are examples.

also there is btc-e that is not so hard on verification, you may want to check them out. although prices are usually a bit lower in there and fiat fees are a bit higher.

I would not suggest btc-e because of so many complaints lately against them and as far as I know none of these complaints has been solved as I write this. Coinbase is good if you are a US citizen and Bitstamp together with Kraken are the best exchanges if you live in Europe. They all have KYC procedures though.

It is a good option if you care about your privacy that much that you try the Currency Exchange board, try to deal with established sellers here, there are a lot of them.

Sadly, your best bet here is to use localbitcoins. Its best privacy compared to KYC that almost all exchanges implement now.

If you have not figured it out yet:  the reason Bitcoins are priced at a premium on localbitcoins is because you can buy there without documentation.  In other words, the premium on localbitcoins is the price you pay for your privacy.

Bitmixer.io is the the best mixer.  Again, paying to have your Bitcoins run through a mixer is the price you pay for your privacy.

ahhh...... so thats why their prices are so high!

Thank you everyone for your replies!

I do not mind giving up my ID tbh but they do not just ask for ID, i just find it plain insulting that I have to give them 1 picture of me, 1 picture of me with a paper saying the date and their name, my id and a bank statement, Im surprised they dont ask for a video of me shouting their name and no treat either   Roll Eyes
Some require bank some require credit card and you cant interswitch them.

Thanks zend i just saw that board, this forum's huge!
Thanks Immakillya, ill check the decentralized ones out.

Bitcoin is not anonymous, but you can transact it without any id the issue is if you want to convert fiat to bitcoin or bitcoin to fiat then you are going to face the regulations put by governments that is the way it is.

Bitcoin on it's own is Pseudo anonymous, but when you add Bitcoin mixers to this mix <excuse the pun> then it adds full anonymity to Bitcoin. < As it is supposed to be >

So buy bitcoins at your regulated Bitcoin exchange and then transfer it via that exchange, through a mixer services to another Bitcoin address. < The moment you do that, it adds privacy back to your transactions > ^smile^

Check out my signature for the best mixer around. They explain the fees as follows : " minimum fee is 0.5% plus 0.001 BTC for every forward address. "

The regulated exchanges are necessary for fiat conversion, but Bitcoin to Bitcoin can still be anonymous via Mixers.

Here in Germany even localbitcoins is shut down locally. My assumption is, that they could not comply with all the bureaucracy that you have to go through here.

There are still few websites which would let you buy bitcoins without asking for any such details; but if you want to buy them through your card, then there are ways as well as people who could help you out in this. I used to buy low volumes from a friend I know who lives in a different country, I send him PayPal, he sends me coins and it's done. Other ways are you may use websites like paxful or such other escrow sites where you may show it as a product purchase and do it like that.

Also another reason exchanges ask for that much information when you buy with credit card is not to find everything about yourself but to protect themselves from credit card fraud that is very common in this day an age.
