The team is still very active and working hard on Phantom. A newsletter/update was delivered by the team today. In summary:

"We're still on track for relaunching our website on the prototype version of Phantom before Q1 2018"

Because this project has matured to a working beta stage, formal marketing plans are underway, including an animated video which will follow our website relaunch.

So we are happy to announce that now the time has come: marketing for mass adoption is underway.

We are also excited to announce Shift’s listing on the Korean trading exchange Upbit."

Very excited to see the progress unfold over the next few months. Substratum did a great job on marketing the decentralized web without a product. On the other hand, shift has been working hard on a working product and saving the marketing until they have something great to deliver.

For starters, Shift is the first one to have an actual working prototype for web hosting and storage. As far as I know, Sia is just cloud storage and substratum and internxt don't even have a working alpha.

They also didn't have an ICO, which is pretty impressive considering they didn't raise unnecessary amounts of money to get to where they are.

It is good to hear some other opinion. I'm invested in Shift and I will hold the coins. I'm long term oriented so I ignore the most news. But Deep Onion for instance I've sold, because no technical solution of a crypto problem.

That is correct, they never had an ICO to raise unnecessary amounts of money. They originally forked from Ethereum and then later switched to the lisk platform.
