Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

In regards to solo mining, how long does it take for the reward to show up in the wallet? 250 blocks? Or will it show up as unconfirmed or something earlier?

I've solo mined with a HD7990 for about 7 hours using sgminer-oc last night (00-07) and then on a GTX1070 with ccminer-2.0-rc2 for about 9 hours (08-17). When I got home from work (now, at around 17:00) I saw two rewards of 50 in my wallet:

If 250 blocks takes about 1250min=21h (~5 min per block of pow) it seems too early to show up now. If the timestamp is when it was found, but not yet matured/verified complelty (hence the brackets '[' ']'), it seems that sgminer-oc isn't working for solo-mining.. 7990 has more or less the same hash as 1070 in my two machines (sgminer-oc vs excavator)
you found 2 blocks with 1 gpu?

He would be using a mega computer

Been "solo" mining at yiimp.ccminer.org for about 8 hours, so far no dice. Anyone care to help? If KimBasinger is still lurking about, yiimp needs to be added to the pool list.

Noo way @tpruvot added OC to Yiimp. I cleary missed some pages on the thread.

And new ccminer as well. https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases/tag/2.0-rc2

Code:
ccMiner 2.0 RC2 changelog:
– Handle cryptonight, wildkeccak and cryptonight-lite
– Add a series of new algorithms: timetravel, bastion, hmq1725, sha256t
– Import lyra2z from djm34 work…
– Rework the common skein512 (used in most algos except skein ;)
– Upgrade whirlpool algo with alexis version (2x faster)
– Store the share diff of second nonce(s) in most algos
– Hardware monitoring thread to get more accurate power readings
– Small changes for the quiet mode & max-log-rate to reduce logs noise
– Blake2s fix, variant built with CUDA 6.5 (not usable for lbry)

Great stuff.

I was looking at that too. But I think it there is no additional code (I compared to blackcoins code). I think the blackcoin PoS protocol by itself will not try to create a pos block if there is 0 reward (nSubsidy in main.cpp).

A transaction in the mempool (that is paying the fee of course) means nSubsidy is grater than 0, giving the PoS kernel something to work with and it then tries to sign a block.

So you would have to dig deeper into blackcoins PoS kernel to understand this (kernel.cpp). I did not go that far Smiley

Edit: I might be wrong, this might be older legacy from the peercoin staking implementation. Maybe look into wallet.cpp how it handles staking. The answer might be there. But comparing the code, nothing is changed considerably from blackcoin to onecoin in wallet.cpp.

I was actually not reffering to Minex iself but instead to what this part is releated to.

Minex itself is an aggrevator for blockchian projects and crypto mining. For more info visit Minex.io . Myself have a few shares in that but have not been paying much attention last few months with all that is going on.

You are right. It is in wallet.cpp: https://github.com/theone-and-not-only-coin/onecoin/blob/master/src/wallet.cpp#L1722

// Calculate coin age reward
    {
        uint64_t nCoinAge;
        CTxDB txdb("r");
        if (!txNew.GetCoinAge(txdb, pindexPrev, nCoinAge))
            return error("CreateCoinStake : failed to calculate coin age");

        int64_t nReward = GetProofOfStakeReward(pindexPrev, nCoinAge, nFees);
       if (nReward <= 0)
            return false;

        nCredit += nReward;
    }

If the reward is 0 the wallet will not try to stake. This part of the code is unchanged from BlackCoin.

If you plan on implementing this feature in your coin you just have to set nSubsidy for GetProofOfstakeReward to 0

Code:
// miner's coin stake reward
int64_t GetProofOfStakeReward(const CBlockIndex* pindexPrev, int64_t nCoinAge, int64_t nFees)
{
    int64_t nSubsidy = 0;

    LogPrint("creation", "GetProofOfStakeReward(): create=%s nCoinAge=%d\n", FormatMoney(nSubsidy), nCoinAge);

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}
