after 3 years of introducing bitcoin to other people and getting at least 100 of them into bitcoin I have stopped.

because all these years I have never told anyone bitcoin is an investment, whenever there is talk of bitcoin I first say bitcoin is a currency and show them the benefits of it as a currency, being decentralized as the best thing and then the security and speed and finally the cheap fees and lots more.
then I introduce them to services they can use with bitcoin, and all the discounts they can get.

but honestly I can no longer give any answer to the question saying "why would I pay $0.9-$1 fee for using a new thing called bitcoin that I don't even understand instead of using my credit card for free that I have been using my whole life."

of course I can always start arguing about lots of other things and benefits and start talking about bitcoin being an investment but deep down I agree with them and also I hate telling new people "bitcoin is an investment and you are gonna make profit from price rise", that is just silly.

Legit point, but you can answer that bitcoin is much better and faster in remittance service than credit card or debit card. And it is the advantage of bitcoin.

Credit cards give you an assurance that if seller cheats you still you can claim back your funds with all the proofs. But in the case of bitcoins, you need to go through with trusted escrow, and you end up paying an extra fee and also it will delay your transaction. Bitcoins transactions are fast only to deal with known or trusted persons. So for me, bitcoins are useful only for investment purpose and not for doing any fast transactions.

{sorry to be off-topic}
how about using a multisignature address instead of an escrow? have you ever thought about that!

you and your seller use a 2 of 2 multisig and you put the funds there, as the seller sees the funds are in the key he sends you the goods and you sign your half of the transaction with your key and give it to the seller, he then does the second signature and spends the funds.

no additional fees required.

bitcoin different from a credit card or other online payment options. so if you own a credit card though. highly recommended to use bitcoin. because its function is different from the credit card or other online payment options

$1 fee is such a low amount.
How about sending $5 with a fee of $1 does it sees like a small amount on that transaction? No its not actually and people would really not plan to pay off huge fess specially on small amount transactions but talking about big transfer I wont really mind at all since its just too small to bother about.

this makes me think that bitcoin is only best for investment, i told many people around me that bitcoin is either as a currency or as an investment, then they found out that sometimes the confirmation time is too long. So for this reason i'm really afraid to tell people that bitcoin is currency, maybe good for investment but it's not a good idea since they just came to bitcoin for buy them and hold untill they rich then dump it. Well I know that you're using credit card and the fee is free, but bitcoin's fee is really cheap if we compare it to other form of payment like paypal or western union. I personally don't have credit card, well to be honest i don't like it, so i must confess that bitcoin is still best for me.

to make someone interested in using bitcoin is not easy, it will spend a long time and wasting time in vain. better let them base on bitcoin. to be interested or not it's up to them

If people really want to use Bitcoin, then they don't need a lot of persuasion, some people just aren't ready to move on and they need a lot of educating about Bitcoin. And since when are you paying a fee of 1 dollar, that is an extremely high amount to be paying for fees as most people spend 10c-50c on the fess. Also, how is it silly to tell them that it is an investment and like all other investments, you can earn or lose money. That doesn't seem silly to me at all. That is the same with gold or any other investment, if you tell someone they should invest, they should already know what could happen if they do invest.

Depends on how you tell your friend about bitcoin and how much the money the can earn from it. If you're telling them that they can make about 10USD(for free) a week while they're based in first world countries which majority of them are developed countries, then they will seem to not give an attention to bitcoin.
Telling them that bitcoin can be sort of investment may probably increase the chance for them to join you and become a bitcoin adopter because with investing you can make so much money depends on your capital and your skill while earning bitcoin for free will make you struggling to earn every penny of it.

I think it's not a silly thing indeed with many requests to bitcoin, and bitcoin make mass adoption of bitcoin prices are volatile and it is used by people as a place for investment

here is a crazy idea for some of you who are talking about credit card fees, taxes and all other things about banks. it may be hard for you to believe specially those from US but there are a lot of other countries and people online are from all around the world. and in other countries people aren't getting bumfoked by the government and taxes. Grin

where I live, I pay zero fees and zero taxes for using a credit card when I purchase things online or from the shops offline using their machine thingy. and for transferring money using my credit cards there are multiple options one of which having a tiny fixed fee of equal to 10 cents and other options are free. again zero tax

I am not so familiar with Europe banking system but there is this thing called SEPA that allows you to transfer money free but I may be wrong , I have just read about this.

with that said, I am well aware of the price and how good a investment bitcoin is. and on top of that if you read OP I have said that there are lots of other benefits to using bitcoin, but the fee war which means a fierce competition of who pays bribes miners more is a big downside that we can not ignore.

p.s. and it is not just about $1 fee, although that is still a high amount in many countries with low hourly wage but it is the rising fees. what are you going to say in a month or a couple of months when fees are $2? what will you say when it is $5 and so on?

I think you are mentioning no transfer fee for the internal transfers (in one country). But if you need to transfer abroad, it will be fees there.

I still try to introduce it to new peoples, as both Investment and Transaction medium. Though it is facing some issues, we cannot ignore its capability and application in the market. It has still great potential and features. The transaction might be slow even with high fees but atleast for me its hassle free.

Earliar I was daily catching new new persons at the Facebook to make a Bitcoin network . And make Bitcoin much famouse .
But sometimes a unusual sound created in my mind why I am teaching to other people about Bitcoin who are unknown .
Unfortunately some people don't understand about its importance and abuse me , then after this I leaved Bitcoin teaching fully .
Now many people askinge to teach Bitcoin but I refused directly them .
So here it is better to understand itself instead to get kniwlege by a person who is already in this field .
Herr google is a big thing to understand about Bitcoin , we should not loss our time to explain about .

Transaction is an important issue to many people. It does not affect you because you only transfer a small amount of bitcoin. With the people who deal with much Bitcoin, they need transactions to be confirmed as fast as possible. If it can not be confirmed immediately, they will lose all of their money. LOL. Right now, confirmation has really irritated many people

Bitcoin is kind of personal, invest then forget type of thing.

Letting people know about Bitcoin wasn't really the thing for me as well so I could kind of see where you are coming from.

yes 1$ transaction fee is such a huge fes for user who transact $30 or less. eventually spending less bitcoin is worthless now a days because we have to spend about 0.5 to 1$ charge which is really discouraging.

So who says credit cards are free?Dont they charge the fee too?Bitcoin is better than CC not just because of fee but also because of financial freedom that it gives to you.
