Guiminer 20110614 on XP -- cancels logout/shutdown

I'm stuck in the newbie section for now...perhaps someone can pass word along. When guiminer is running on my XP machine, it silently cancels log out, restart, or shutdown commands. I have to close guiminer first in order to log out. I don't think that should be the default behavior.
