Trump Slashes Nat'l Debt by $12 Billion In First Month, Media Silent

The Trump administration managed to decrease total US public debt by $12 billion in a month, while former President Obama increased it by $200 billion over that same period.

Despite the numerous controversies during his first month in office, President Trump successfully decreased the US total public debt by $12 billion within his first 30 days as president. Yet, as Trump pointed out in a series of tweets, few media outlets covered the significant debt decrease though they were more than happy to pounce on other recent stories casting the new president in a negative light.

The Trump administration managed to decrease total US public debt by $12 billion in a month, while former President Obama increased it by $200 billion over that same period.

Though some may take such statements from Trump as self-serving and not factually sound, the US Treasury Department has confirmed Trump's claims. According to data released by the Treasury, the overall national debt on the day of Trump's inauguration stood at $19.95 trillion and dropped to $19.93 trillion on February 21st. Then, between February 22nd and 23rd, the debt dropped even lower to $19.91 trillion.

Not only that, but Trump's assertion that former President Barack Obama increased the national debt by $200 billion within his first month in office was also proven to be accurate by official government statistics. In Obama's first month in office, the US national debt began at $10.62 trillion and jumped to $10.84. Over Obama's presidency, the national debt soared by 86%, hitting a record high at $19.6 trillion.

Yet, the mainstream media's ignorance of the national debt crisis is nothing new. The national debt has been and is so out of control that it threatens to bring down the entire national economy and completely obliterate the US dollar as a currency of value. Essentially, the Federal Reserve – through years of currency manipulation intended to enrich the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the rest – is forced to keep interest rates at near-zero, lest it unleash the true weight of the national debt upon the American public.

Davidson Stockman, the former director of the national budget under Reagan, recently summarized the situation:

The puppet politicians in Washington D.C. have only done what their "invisible government" puppeteers have instructed them to do. They don't answer to the voters or their local constituents. They answer to Wall Street bankers, the military industrial complex, mega-corporation CEOs, and shadowy billionaire oligarchs who fund their corrupt existence.

These feckless politician hacks could never have added $13.8 trillion to the national debt in the last sixteen years and run the country's unfunded welfare liabilities to $200 trillion without the Wall Street controlled privately owned Federal Reserve manning the printing presses and manipulating interest rates to enrich their "invisible government" benefactors.

Correlation and causation are two different things.

What you're sharing is "Fake News"...or in Trump's vernacular #FakeNews.

This article doesn't say that Trump slashed the debt. This article states that the debt has gone down since he took office. And with a machine as big as the US government, it likely takes a bit of time for any decision a President makes to affect the finances and then for those affects to be recognized and reported on.

What's more likely is that the reduction in debt is either (1) due to something Obama enacted months ago, or (2) unrelated to any Presidential decision.

I look forward to seeing if the Donald really can reduce the debt...the US spends way too much money...on everything. We'll have to wait a year to see if the Donald has actually had an impact.

I blame the Democrat and Republican parties, each of them, equally, is bringing this country down.

• The both try to discredit the other side
• They each only succeed if they can entrench themselves further in their ideology, and "proving" that the other side is "wrong"
• When they win they declare they have a mandate to blanket the country in their ideology and when they lose the are further emboldened to be stubborn and not work with the other party
• Both parties are hypocritical in their ideology or practices (i.e., Democrat use of Super Delegates to remove the "democratic vote" of their party supporters during the primaries, this is what kept Bernie out of candidacy; Republican saying they want less government and then proceed to set laws forcing how Americans act (marriage, abortion, immigration, etc)

These two parties need to each take a giant step back to center and learn to work with and compromise with the other side.

If they can't do that they'll continue to fuel the divide, which can only be resolved in (1) the people abandoning these parties for a more moderate third options, or (2) civil war.

I would say that it's less of #FakeNews and more of something that is just timed to look a bit nicer. The fact is true by Donald Trump, but it's a very specific time frame used to deceive people into thinking he's had an impact this quickly. Not saying he hasn't had an impact to the stock market and other economic systems but it's not even like a budget has been advised by his administration yet so he hasn't been able to fight for a difference.

I think if you give him and his administration around 2 years you should see some wonderful results, but it's too early now to see and hope for anything. Though he has done a lot more than any other president in a short period of time.

It wouldn't be all that difficult to make a debt clock that looked just like this one, but ran the other direction.

It is not that hard. Eliminating the wasteful spending will do the job. I can give two examples. The first one is the invasion of Iraq, which cost some $2 trillion. The other is the F-35 program, which has cost around $1.5 trillion till now.

The whole operation of Government and the media exists to cover up the freedom that people have.

The Preamble to the Constitution says:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

In other words, if Government isn't a benefit for you personally in some way, it is not doing the thing it was designed for. The Preamble is the writing that shows why Government was set up, and essentially authorizes Government to exist.

So, what can we do about it when Government messes with our lives? Go to the 9th Amendment and use it and the jury of the 6th and 7th Amendments to get rid of the Government crooks. The 9th Amendment says we have all the rights that we always had, before Government was ever around.

Sue those Government people who harm you personally. Why personally? Because even Government says that if they act outside of the authority of their Government office, they are acting personally. And the Preamble says that they are to be a benefit if they are in Government.

Well trump has to be doing something good as president one way or another. I mean it can't all be bad right? And if theres one aspect trump can actually be good at, its with the economy. With the United States of America leaving the United Nations and closing its borders for immigrants the United States will no longer place a huge budget on giving humanitarian and financial aide abroad and within their country. Billions of dollars will be saved if those things will be set aside and Trump has now proven himself as an effective president.
