R9 280X problem with Claymore + Zcash

I have a ZCash / Zclassic / Nicehahsh mining problem with Claymore (Claymore 8.0.7)

A Gpu of my RIG with R9 280x, (1002 6798 - 1458 2279) Gigabyte WindForce

Temps With Pascal miner - sometimes take 78ºC - 35ºC Environment.
I did Underclocking my bios memory clock from 1500 mhz to 1400 Mhz, Gpu Clock from 1000 Mhz to 800 Mhz, Volts standard, I tried setting below standards but it did not stay stable.

I have stable mining, ETH / PASC, but with Claymore (ZEC) or NiceHash, crash.

Please, any help?

I have six Asus 280X DirectCU2 and I have issues mining with them on NiceHash, related to heat. When temps go above 70C I get rejected shares, all other videos cards from XFX 270, Gigabyte 270X and Sapphire 280X run without issue. I only have one Asus 280X running at 69C-70C, at 290 Sols.

The  Asus heatpipe design is good for the designated use case of a videocard but not for mining, these cards are really sensitive to ambient temperature and the default fan curve favors silence over cooling.

I'd recommend running the fans at 100% and see if you still have issues, then decrease the fan speed until while maintaining a constant GPU temp of 69 or lower, leave the Wattman settings at default until you can get the temp under control. You might also try try changing the voltage through TRIXX or Afterburner.

Turn up the fans or buy an external fan... I think that temperatures not higher than 80C are acceptable ( I have been mining with hd 7990 on 83C for over 3 months 24/7 - no problems)

I wish I had a 7990 -those are durable as hell, the point about another fan is good also and something I forgot to mention.

I run the Sapphire 280X rig with a fan on top, even though the Sapphires can easily handle temps above 70C, the XFX 270s need help so I have two Yate Loon fans connected to each other via molex (really old fans) and into the motherboard to a standard 3-pin fan connection. The Gigabyte 270X are Windforces - totally overkill but extremely effective to keeping GPU temps under control, even in the summer without any additional cooling.

My Gpu Gigabyte R9-280X freezes when using the nicehash or Equihash something, already controlled the temperature at 17ºC ambient and running between 50ºC ~ 60ºC, and even so it happened, I am suspicious of BGA chip, however what bothers me is that others Something, they run perfectly and even in higher temperatures.

The fans by default put in the BIOS Mooded, Start 50ºC until 60ºC it reaches 100%.

I have extra cooling with a Corsair 120 supplying air inside, already tested as exhaust fan but better efficiency is like blower.

I will observe the reduction of intensity and frequency.

i totally agree with you 7970 & 7990 are really durable GPUs, i live in a hot place (desert) my friend have a 7970 and it survived our heat like a charm

as for your problem try to reduce the frequencies and see if it still freezes or not

The temps for your 280X seem high, my clock and temp information readings are:
Asus 1200/1600, 71C Fans 41% 300Sols/s
Sapphire 1100/1600, 73C Fans 64% 270Sols/s

I set my PowerLimit for both cards to -20%

I consulted a friend who fixes the GPUs, and he informed me that Gigabyte has this cooling problem.

The solution was to reduce the clock slightly and increase the cooler.
But I am still dissatisfied, I believe there is another problem with the kit, I will do a general cleaning this weekend to see if it works, I will also test the settings that friends recommend

He recommended using brands like Sapphire
