Emailed Bittrex about getting HLM from my SPR that was held there at the time of the "Airdrop".  Still have not heard anything from Bittrex at all after about a week.  At this point i'm pretty frustrated with this whole scenario and the way this was handled.  So I guess that's just extra HLM for the devs then.

Amusing part is there has been ZERO value transfer so far since HLM isn't tradeable or valued ATM.  At least when the ZCL/ZEN debacle happened you could see your value shift and mostly remain.  Now SPR is dumped and HLM is temporarily worthless so effectively most people are way in the red right now.

I suspect HLM to come out between $1-3 so it'll balance but kinda funny to think about.

Remember the initial value that hits your wallet counts as a taxable event.  Personally I'd rather it start at $.50 and then climb to $100 over the next year, so that long term capital gains tax can be used.

I think that if someone gives you a physical gold bar "for free", in some cases you should pay taxes for that, even if you not sell it for money. Same for cryptocurrency "airdrops".

It has value, so when you "receive" the coins, the US value is considered a taxable income event.

When you use it, that's when capital gains rules apply.  Doesn't matter if you cash to USD or use it otherwise.

The messy part, as far as I can tell, is how to determine "which" coins were used if you obtained them at different values.  Seems to me they made it purposely difficult.  

That's my understanding at least.  I'm not a tax expert and I have to give the usual caveat: do your own research and get professional tax advice if necessary.

That is insane... that would mean anything that I have ever been given "for free" in life I would have to pay taxes on.....
This is the exact reason why we need cryptocurrencies.....  greedy governments want their cut of something that is not theirs.... THIEVES!!!

Insane, yes.  The government wants you pay taxes on every source of income.

Remember we're supposed to be in control of our government.  If you don't like what they are doing, make sure your "representatives" are aware of your displeasure and that you vote for those people who really decrease taxes, not just those who say they do.

That said, also remember there's no such thing as a "free lunch".  Everything the government doles out is stolen from others.  If you are a large recipient of those handouts, don't complain about the taxes unless you want the "free" stuff to disappear.

For the rest of us "Peters" who are robbed to pay the "Pauls", however, sorry Paul, your days of free lunches are coming to an end.

Projects like this one shows the future of the cryptocurrency world. It's obvious that this project will use in our daily life. I have hopes for this project and it gonna be one of the most useful development for cyrptocurrency lovers.
