Do you believe Bitcoin will rise while the dollar falls? If so, the price of bitcoin reaching $10,000 by the end of 2016 is not that huge of a leap (1000+% gains on average for the past 4 years means over $10k/BTC by 2015). If you bet just .5 BTC (about $60 at current rates) on this: http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=1532it is like an investment in your future. When the bet is won, you will likely at least double your money since so many people believe it will not reach $10,000. So if you win you will get back at least $10k worth of bitcoins. If you lose, you are out 60 bucks. And the earlier you bet, the larger the cut of the winnings you receive. So betting now will give you more than those that wait. Easy money.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Or you could just buy 0.5 Bitcoints and have $5000 without having to to add additional risk of trusting it to some betting site. Furthermore you are also winning if it just gains a little bit, instead of losing the amount.
Conclusion: If you take this bet, you are just stupid. Q.E.D.

"When the bet is won"? You mean, IF the bet is won. There are very few sure bets in life. Probably around 3 or 4 at the most.

You are better off playing Sathoshi Dice with that sum than taking the bet. Even playing in a casino would be.

This. It's a bad bet. It seems like every week a new poorly conceived bet pops up in the speculation forum.

+1 Bitcoin: Trust yourself. Maybe Bitcoin isn't a land where all profits are secure, all wishes come true and dreams aren't regularly crushed into monstrous nightmares at the worst possible time under the mocking heel of terrible fate.
It's bizarre isn't it. A piece of beta software with super happy fund time profit. What are these people smoking? Whenever I explain Bitcoin to noobs, I never mention the "price" until asked. The price is a byproduct of its awesomeness and meme. Awesomeness and memes can be superceded/die.

Finally bestsofbitcoin can easily fail.

I apply a similar logic as OP to my purchasing of lottery tickets. If there is a huge jackpot, many people buy 2 tickets. I only buy one, because; when I win with the first ticket, the second ticket is a waste of 2 dollars, so if I purchase 2, I am actually throwing two bucks down the drain. Winning!
