I must comment that although I follow your argument, and would not refute it as ocassionally happening, I will refute it in the general.

I have worked with mental patients several times and got to know them well, as people.  Some had various types of "psychopath" labels.  Often this was qualified in various ways.

I'm ALSO familiar with the issues relating to combat.

This is not similar to so called post tramatic stress disorder, and the two should not be confused or considered similar.
1. Combat is traumatic.
2. Trauma sometimes results in "scars," which sometimes manifest as PTSD, or other psychological disorder.
3. If, for a particular person, combat is not in the least traumatic (not, he can deal with the trauma, it is not traumatic) then that person is most likely a psychopath or suffers from some other defect which has damaged his humanity. If Tom does, indeed, have combat experience, I'm sure he has met some of these folks, and, unless he himself is one (I certainly can't judge based on two posts) he was most likely very worried by his encounters with them.....

I started my comment with...

No more needs be said.  Maybe one thing.

You seem to use a dictionary definition of psychopath to prove a point.  As I noticed, there is incredible diversity in actual people diagnosed as and treated as psychopaths.  What this means is that I can refute your argument in a backwards method, starting with the bell shaped curves in psychopathic behavior, then going to the single phenomena you claim.

Nonetheless, I know the point you are trying to make, which is along the lines of something like, uh, "killing people is bad and has bad karma" or something like that?

More like, "killing people fucks you up, and if it doesn't, you might already be fucked up," but yeah, something like that.

I think it also has to do with the fact if you believe you are fighting a just war.  If you kill others in self-defence, a kill or be killed situation then I think you shouldn't have lasting regret because you know it was either do that or die.

OTOH, if you have invaded and occupied a foreign country on false pretences, and killed people and destroyed property and lives (through the destruction of the economy) you might end up with a few psychological issues, that is, if you started out as a well-adjusted human being.

Sure, but let's add to that "lots of stuff might fuck you up, and you might not already be fucked up."

Then we've got all the ingredients for something....

Anyway, let me say this.  It wouldn't have bothered me one bit to have offed the Boston bunglers.  Would not have lost one second of sleep over that.   Maybe would have lost some sleep wondering if they had buddies that were coming after me.

Did you believe Richard Jewell to be guilty also?

True. And a lot of that "lots of stuff" likes to hang out in combat zones.

You wouldn't question for a second that you might have gotten the wrong guys? What if you capped two innocent civilians? I wouldn't lose much sleep over taking down someone trying to kill me, but I don't think I'd handle retribution quite as well as you.

Isn't that eye for an eye?  What about innocent until proven guilty and a fair trial?

Let me clarify, I envisioned the scenario as one where they had raised guns pointed my way, or other deadly force.

No absolutely not should anyone hope for other than an arrest and trial.

Apologies for being unclear...

When you see connections like these:

Quote from: Examiner
One bizarre connection to the tragedies that took place at the Sandy Hook, Newtown, Conn., school is that the father of murderer Adam Lanza has a connection to the theater shootings that took place in Aurora, Colorado earlier this year by shooter James Holmes.

Killer's Adam Lanza and James Holmes fathers were reportedly expected to testify in the Libor bank scandal trial that took place in June. Peter Lanza, the Newtown Conn. killer's father is the Vice President and Tax Director at GE Financial, while Robert Holmes, father to Aurora, Colorado theater shooter, James Holmes, is the head scientist of FICO.

http://www.examiner.com/article/libor-scandal-reveals-frightening-connection-to-mass-shootings-of-2012

It's kinda hard, for even the non tin foil cap bearers, not to feel there's some larger conspiracy.  The last thing people should do is aimlessly trust their governments or corporations.  Question, question, question.

For those who don't know about LIBOR.  They're being implicated in THE LARGEST corruption scandal in the HISTORY Of humanity.  And this is happening RIGHT NOW and over the past couple years.  They're hiring the best of the best lawyers, paying minimal in corruption suits, and just about getting away scott free.  This whole mess with LIBOR involves 500 TRILLION stolen dollars from around the world perhaps causing the austerity mess in Greece and Portugal, etc.  Sickening!

this month's rolling stones wrote a great article putting things into perspective:

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/everything-is-rigged-the-biggest-financial-scandal-yet-20130425

So to claim that there aren't people out there willing to do the extreme to manipulate their way into power is just plain 'ol naive....as if we live in a time of rainbow and unicorn laden butterflies.

MKUltra ring a bell?  Look it up on wiki.

Another one from CPS, who has little to no oversight.  This is heartbreaking.

wow just wow!!!!!

They need to file a writ of Habeaus Corpus to get their baby back.
And

Report to the police as kidnapping, as the officers that took the baby, are likely acting outside of their powers

Wow someone in this thread is so full of themselves it's spilling over the sides, and stinking up the place.

Believes everything on tv I bet, and watches it often to get the ol daily dose of the illusion of knowledge.

"Myob, because we sure as hell don't....oh, and ps....you are irrelevant if you disagree"  yeap.....the ol  "Do as we say, not as we do" syndrome...

Uh-huh...

Once again, a citizen is the real hero, just like the citizen that found this "suspect" in his boat. Again, why do we have so many police?

Lately, I have to admit to noticing a peculiar thing.

It seems there are a lot of medium height, young, bald cops with dark sunglasses.

They are all over the country.  In every police department.  Hired just a couple years ago.

Where did they come from?

They all look very similar.

There are some very similar and disturbing behavior from these guys.

LOL....Stepford Cops?
