Hello i saw on centrabit app, they wrote article about the ETF.. we will see 2500-3000$ each BTC? check out here: http://www.centrabit.io/It is certainly possible. Consider that the ETF would mean that anyone can go to their local bank and buy the COIN shares. It doesn't matter if you are a regular blue collar worker or a wall street shark, or an huge billionaire mogul... as long as you got a bank account im sure they will be willing to buy it for you. This means massive amounts of money coming in. The marketcap is tiny, so price can go up quickly. If it doesn't pass, I think the dip will not be that noticeable.

2500-3000$ each BTC?
Throwing around arbitrary figures won't get us anywhere. Numbers of where Bitcoin could go after the ETF are generally based on weak speculation. Frankly, it could go nearly anywhere. However, maybe the ETF will result in a rise of Bitcoin but I think that people are viewing this as an event that will just instantly throw Bitcoin into the stars. It'll take time and time to build legitimacy. The volatility of Bitcoin right now based on that event might even stop Bitcoin getting the ETF as it wouldn't be seen as legitimate or reliable.

I think there will be a huge price spike, followed by extreme volatility, and a correction as it finds its value with all the new institutional investors money coming in. I doubt institutional investors are going to throw all their money into bitcoin, but even a small amount against bitcoins small market cap is going to have a huge affect.

Exactly, anything can happen and I think, any decision would be beneficial for the bitcoin in order to bring more users on the board. In case of decision in favour, there will be more eyeballs to jump in the bitcoin with some purchases and if the decision goes against then we already have thousands of 'waiters' (lolz) who are willing to buy bitcoin below the price levels of $1,000.

Don't understand how they have really reached such a conclusion, this is kind of price rigging going on here and this is not what btc was made for, as far the etf is concerned it had yet to get the approval and for all we know this may or may not happen. It could be the work of many factors to get people in buying Bitcoin at ridiculously high prices. And the price is sheer speculations, what if the etf brings loads of restrictions on the Bitcoins. And they start cracking on exchanges, and if we buy the etf don't we loose anomoyous factor and decentralised features will it yet be active? Lots to consider.

People who buy the bitcoin ETF are not buying bitcoin. They are buying a product aimed at following the price of bitcoin. The ETF will hold the bitcoin, or derivatives based on it.

This is true but it does increase the demand for Bitcoin as investors buy the ETF. I think we will see a price increase if the ETF is approved although most people are saying it is unlikely to be approved.

I think basically how it works, is that ETF fund buys X amount of BTC holdings, puts it in cold storage, and sells X amount of ETF shares in an IPO. The fund then trades like a share in the open market. What ties the value of the ETF to that similar to the price of BTC, is the arbitrages buying and selling the ETF shares and BTC's to maintain a parity in value.

Regardless of the ETF, at some point we'll reach +$2000 prices anyway. It's just a tool that will allow institutional investors to come on board to accelerate the the process of reaching such price levels. Don't forget that we also have to fight our way through this whole nonsense block size discussion drama. Once pools start signalling enough support to activate Segwit, we'll start to see a real boost in price, and then say goodbye to sub $1000 for basically a very long time.

but when they sell all of their shares they have to buy more bitcoin to back more shares. eventually it will have an effect on the market with coins being removed from it.

This means massive amounts of money coming in. The marketcap is tiny, so price can go up quickly. If it doesn't pass, I think the dip will not be that noticeable.
Don't forget they are not buying Bitcoin direct par se, rather it is the shares of an instrument that tracks Bitcoin that would be on sale. What ETF approval would likely do for Bitcoin is that it is going to tag a sort of endorsement for Bitcoin and then more adoption by wealthy people.

There is more than just this ETF that people seem to hype up. One thing is sure, everything is pure speculation. It might turn out that even when this ETF doesn't come through, the price won't give a damn. But we can't simply put aside the importance of a potential approval. It will allow professional capital to flow into the market.

but when they sell all of their shares they have to buy more bitcoin to back more shares. eventually it will have an effect on the market with coins being removed from it. Yes, assuming a fully BTC backed ETF (like a gold ETF backed by physical gold). If they then want to sell more ETF shares, they will have to buy more BTC to back it. If people start buying up ETF shares on the open market raising its price, BTC has to be bought to increase the BTC price to match it. It's very likely a lot of derivatives are going to have to be used to try and maintain the ETF value to the underlying asset. EDIT: If the price of BTC is $2000, and the ETF price is $3000, then the ETF can be short sold as alternative to rising the BTC price, but that doesn't come without risks either. That probably makes the SEC nervous, as bitcoins market cap is still small and not that liquid. If it does get approved, it will probably come with a lot of conditions at the start.

It seems to be a Java script.... has anyone else experienced this? It would be great to see them trying to lift bitcoins from my paper wallets. I also never use the same device I browse around on the internet, to access my coins that are stored on my hardware wallet. The approval of the ETF will push the price up, and this will attract more attention from hackers... so be careful.

I read a couple of previous month articles after the ETF approval. The first was claimed that may be fresh money would come in from retirement accounts and pension funds and the second one that the price will climb at first in $1,500 and before the end of the year will cross $2,000. But of course the writer as he said he expresses his personal opinion. I like the optimistic predictions both of the journalists but I am very skeptical about the investor preferences

But of course the writer as he said he expresses his personal opinion. I like the optimistic predictions both of the journalists but I am very skeptical about the investor preferences With or without etf btc will reach 2000 usd this year. That's a non-brainer. If the etf gets approved and is able to collect nice chunk of fiat the price will rise much higher than 2000 usd this year. Right now there are around 28 000 btc in the margin long positions on bitfinex and 13 000 btc in short positions at finex. That means there are around 15 000 btc more in long positions. If the etf is capable of raising 200 000 000 usd during the first week it means those long positions are eaten over 10 times at current price... However, I think the price rise is more likely than the longed coins being sold to etf at current spot.

Yes, if SEC approve ETF which investors could see it as good opportunity to invest on bitcoin, it will be. But, I hope stable increases than fast climb up and then fall down again. For them (investors) a regulation and legitimacy from SEC is a big deal as huge amount of money involved, so the increase is inevitable.

No. I'd have to disagree that the dip won't be noticeable. The people who believe that the ETF will be approved have adjusted their trading accordingly. They think bitcoin will go to the moon after ETF approval, so right now they're hoarding and getting ready for the spike. If that doesn't happen, there is a high chance that those people will sell the bitcoin they hoarded because they'll think that getting to the moon will take a lot longer. IMO the dip could possibly go down to $700 or $800, but probably not any lower than that. If anything, it'll probably go to $900 at least.

Why do you even think it will be that much? It is not like we are expecting ETF to be accepted. We generally know it will be almost miracle if SEC will say 'yes'. There is less than 25% chance, according to trading analysts, that COIN ETF will be accepted. So we shouldn't be disappointed at all = negative effect on the price should be minimal.

Let's hope for this to happen, you are right about that, with 2500 $ for 1 btc I doubt in panic selling. That is the same like now, many people mention panic selling but price is stable on +1200$. Judging by comments here on forum I noticed that many of us are surprised with bitcoin price. I think bitcoin exceeded our expectations. I'm optimistic more then ever, let's wait and see in next few weeks what will bring this ETF approval.

Im hoping for this to happen but maybe 2500$ after ETF was too high to aim even for speculation. In my opinion it will only rise to between 1300$-1500$ not 2500$ since it would take a lot of fiat to make bitcoin go up to that amount. It was possible though but it would be hard considering that the corporations and more people don't really trust bitcoin yet. It would take time for that to happen.

1300 is a bit low IMO as the ETF would probably create a larger temporary price spike. 1350 seems realistic to me after a few hours of the ETF being approved. Of course it's going to take a lot of fiat to get it up there but the demand will be there as well after the ETF. We've seen price spikes with even the smallest events and chances are this one will get us at least above 1350.

If you are aware of the magnitude of the change that will happen if ETF is approved you wont be thinking twice about this, the reality of the fact is it is highly unlikely that it will be accepted but if it is accepted or get through by default by march 11th then we would see a price range above $2500 without a doubt as it is expected we could see over hundred millions being invested into bitcoin in the first week itself.

Generally, bitcoin enthusiast sites predict $3000/BTC. ETF analyst sites predict $2000/BTC. So $2500 is in the middle Although I am not in the markets are rational camp since traders act on irrational exuberance. It could be a very bumpy ride with only one direction to go (think 2013 bubble).

But $2000 - $3000 range is irrational for me. $1300 - $2000 is better decimal for the future price of bitcoin if SEC try to approve it.

Generally, bitcoin enthusiast sites predict $3000/BTC. ETF analyst sites predict $2000/BTC. So $2500 is in the middle Although I am not in the markets are rational camp since traders act on irrational exuberance. It could be a very bumpy ride with only one direction to go (think 2013 bubble). it seems like a lot of the parties are feeling optimistic about the bitcoin etf approval, but i guess it can be the boomerang for all of the parties if the SEC try give the delay for bitcoin etf (2013). But $2000 - $3000 range is irrational for me. $1300 - $2000 is better decimal for the future price of bitcoin if SEC try to approve it. well we can't blame them to speculate large numbers from it since possbilities are still in their althoug its impossible to occur for now, but their is the world call miracle and Maybe it will occur when ETF is approved and truly nobody knows what would be happen since their is no single person can point out an accurate figure when that approval happens.

Its possible that the bitcoin price would reach $2500 at the end of the year if ETF gets approved. Imagine money is flooding into the bitcoin market. And it looks like the chance of it being approve has improve in the last few weeks so lets just hope for the best. However, I have a feeling that a lot of speculators are pumping the the bitcoin right now, and "might" pull their investment at the end of the week, just to make sure that their investment is protected in Bitcoin ETF is not approved. Anyone of you bailing out?

2500-3000$ each BTC?
Throwing around arbitrary figures won't get us anywhere. Numbers of where Bitcoin could go after the ETF are generally based on weak speculation. Frankly, it could go nearly anywhere. If tons of new big time players enter the market it could get silly for a while. Hopefully just doubling the price over the next year would be a more true organic growth rate. But yeah why not up to 10k and back to 2k, who knows.

No miracle will happen since saying the price of bitcoin would double on a short period of time isnt attainable because of this upcoming news. Its too unrealistic to consider, not being to negative but its not just ideal to put some speculation that are too high and yet we dont still have no idea on whats ahead.

probably bitcoin prices will be between $ 2,000 - $ 3,000. Well, I believe in this prediction. I might save bitcoin I get like squirrels store food before winter. This will be good when the price of bitcoin rose to higher in the near future.

As always with BTC. I will rather believe in 50% crash after ETF won't be approved that in 100% price gain after ETF acceptance. That is how Bitcoin market always worked, negative news were always exaggerated while positive effects were short lived and had less impact that expected. I would love to see ETF making a difference here, but maybe it is for the better that we won't have it just now? At least until scaling problems will be resolved.

The ETF has very low possibility to be approved at all. The Winklevoss themselves state that it has just 25% chance of approval. Their own firm dumped a lot of Bitcoin right now since it has appreciated quite a bit. They do expect Bitcoin to do well going into the future but it will be a slow growth towards $2000 maybe over a couple years or more.
Come Friday be ready to open up your bourbons and drown your sorrows~

Lol no. $1300-1500 is more like it. People are waaaaaaayyyyyyy too optimistic about price rises. There won't be any new investors when the ETF goes through, they'll trickle in slowly. So I would just hang on for a steady rise rather than big spikes.
