Maybe stop npm and cd into explorer/tmp Then delete the "index.pid" rm -r index.pid and restart npm If you purge instead, remember to delete the file sitting inside "sources.list.d" in "apt" if using ubuntu. Mongodb omits this from its purge instructions.
