Yesterday in some short moment price was 1325 on many exchanges, coindesk also had that. There is thread about that anomaly, I don't know how else to call it, it lasted minutes and back to +1200.
I'm satisfied with current price, and there is many things that can push up the price, we need to be patient for that. By the way like some other members here I also expect little drop on 1000 or even lower before we can continue our journey to 2000$.

Such problems will get resolved with time. When that does happen, the price will really take off.
The only concern is that we should not be overtaken by some other alt before that happens.

Whilst I may have agreed with you a few years ago, I think the network effect is speeding things up and holders may be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it recovers and grows this year. The only reason it wouldn't reach $1300 would be if some alt absorbed a lot bigger chunk of the crypto marketshare and I don't see that happening in the short term.

they did manipulate the price, check the charts and you will see the result, and also make sure to check the timeframes and see "how long" they could keep the price down. hint: it was less than a minute.

Yes shitcoins having a good time at the moment.But we've seen this several times before.Bitcoin took some time off and shitcoins started rising. Then after a while it all shifted.Shitcoins got dumped for BTC or profits.
So there's no reason to panic imo. We may stay here at the actual range of 1170 or go down a bit more, maybe close to 1000 or slightly below. But that won't be for long and from a certain point in time on we will again continue rising in terms of price.

Do you really think that Chinese exchange site`s have so big influence on bitcoin price? In this moment bitcoin have other problems, and Chinese are for some time in second place. There is whales in China, I do not doubt in that, just next price increase need to be cause of bitcoin upgrades not cause of the whales, and that is natural rise, it will not be some pump. well, the price is now actually recovering after the drastic fall due to the rejection of ETF but I guess that it's just a panic selling and after that everything will be fine, bitcoin is now as today has reached 1,218 USD according to satoshindex and it's kinda good move even after the rejection occurred. It's very difficult to tell honestly since we still have the BU vs SegWit concern as of now and the community can't decide which way would be the best way moving forward. Also, we've been falling back from $1275 to $1170 almost each and every day and we are struggling to at least keep some stability in the current times. It might be months from now until we can see $1300 because we're still struggling to find a solid floor from where we're at right now.

well, the price is now actually recovering after the drastic fall due to the rejection of ETF but I guess that it's just a panic selling and after that everything will be fine, bitcoin is now as today has reached 1,218 USD according to satoshindex and it's kinda good move even after the rejection occurred. Financial turmoil would likely drive BTC price higher, IMO.  Our first opportunity to see will be March 15 when the (US) Federal Reserve raises rates as it is expected to do.

Also about March 15 there is *something* (I forget exactly what) that has to be done about raising the debt ceiling.  If the debt ceiling is NOT raised (and there will be a political fight), then about June the USG runs out of money to spend...

So two things to keep an eye on just in the next few days.

The price you are speculating I think was too high to be reached this year or a year after this post have been made. I think even if 5000$ is really possible within a year this post has been posted, It would take a lot of good news happening in bitcoin for it to be driven to prices that are that high. The SX ETF doesn't stand a single change, that I can agree with. But what decrease are you talking about? We are doing exceptionally well as we are sitting over the $1200 level. Altcoins mostly get pumped when the Bitcoin price is taking a break or when it drops, we already know that. Only difference is that current altcoin pumps are extremely-over-exaggerated. As quoted several issues have been getting around. So one by one when things get solved we might experience stable growth leading to $1300 or wven more. Other than the ETF rejections not having any impact on the market, the SEC has made clear that they are not going to approve any sort of ETF in the coming years.

The reasons for rejection they named are clear. Bitcoin's free market nature will remain for a long time, which basically means that as long as that is the case, the SEC is not going to approve any ETF.

I won't even be surprised if turns out that they have blindly rejected the ETFs without doing proper research. It's not in the benefit of the government to push Bitcoin to the next level.

Yes in the month of May it is expected that the price start to increase and we see the price of bitcoin increase up more than $1300. Just like a high increase in the month of May in the previous year which you may remember. The chances are there that the same occur in the coming May.

- The bullish channel is moving with ~ 100 $ per 7 days.

Any news that can push Bitcoin to $1300 in May?  I believe we need a good press to reach $1300.  This will bring more hype and convince the community to add more investment to Bitcoin Market.  Last ATH was a Bull trap planned by group of whales.  Some of this exchanges shorted on their trades reason why they organize  a well planned FUD by announcing something against the hardfork and make people believe that it is about to happen.  And the price quickly drop within that day after the announcement.

But just I read that bitcoin unlimited is losing its mining shares like its support is falling below 30% of total mining power.

Hence we can expect segwit to be activated at any time like it will be having more than 50% of mining shares (the non-voters are being around to be supporting segwit). So we can expect the scalability issue is coming to an end. So bitcoin will be having $1300 price level once segwit will be activated.

We are very close to get back to $1200 level and that can be achieved in next couple of days or weeks but touching the price of $1300 may take certain time but if we find more investors in coming days then it can boost the price to that level.

It has gone over the $1200 level today. I see that a lot people focus on reaching the $1300 level again, but the main point is that this peak ATH was purely the result of one large trader triggering positions from other (smaller) traders. Bitcoin isn't good news driven anymore, unless it's news coming from pools that they will all start supporting Segwit, but that's more a fantasy. Keep in mind; If there will be news that has a positive impact on the price, it will be scaling related, and that's all. In the same time, this endless scaling nonsense is more likely to turn into something negative, because as long as Bitcoin isn't scaling, fud will continue to go through the market, and paid shills/trolls will only become stronger. Don't get hasty with it, this ETF decision is just nothing compare on what did bitcoin went through before reaching the ATH. What good news is there to expect? I can't think of anything. Right now traders are focused on everything related to the potential fork. It heavily dictates their sentiment and willingness to increase their positions. It's not for nothing that altcoins have been seeing their price go up considerably -- people are using them to hedge Bitcoin. Time will tell whether or not it turns out to be a good move, but one thing is sure, we need Bitcoin to scale asap.

Bitcoin right now is in a limbo state, a fork does not seem like it is going to happen anytime soon, but we cannot get any of the solutions to the scaling problem approved for lack of consensus, so it seems we are trapped and we are unable to make any move forward at the moment.

Yes, bitcoin prices were heavily struggling to break $1240 levels as it was remaining as very big psychological resistance levels. Traders themselves assume about big prices near $1300 as targets to book profits which is always pushing down prices for no reasons. Some experts do call this as "usual fluctuations" because in all the rally same types of traders will not be there to make price to go back.

Bitfinex was in trouble in 2014,5,6 and every dam half year there were stories about bankruptcy and being insolvent.
Either way bitfinex is no way closer to what mt gox was when it crashed down.

$1500 is still a fair and realistic target (which I don't believe $2000 to be for this year). It's pointless to add any value to the exchange rate of Bitfinex if that's the reason you try to look beyond the $1500 mark.

I think prices anywhere near the $2000 mark will be well justified in case SegWit is activated, but at this point we're far away from that. I prefer to remain realistic as there is nothing indicating $2000 prices without SegWit.

This price increase is mainly due to back the SEC making it approve or not for the ETF adding bitcoin, it wont make much impact if it got disapprove but what ever price now it got increase then we can see back the $900 price

Unless this exchange will fix their banking problems, and USD wire transfers will be reactivated, until then BTC price there will be always higher than anywhere else.

This is the negative side of hodling. You see these huge changes happen yet hold through it all, never taking any profits or coming ahead btc by shorting. You may just end up back in  the red if btc goes under $900.

That is the stance I usually take. I do not care about short term volatility. I have hold since 2013.

lol! who bumped this, It will not happen, bitcoin sub $1500 is history, at least in our life time. With the successful implementation of Segwit, watch the price spike, but expect plenty of volatility too.

I am 100% agree with you. It is not going to happen that bitcoin will touch in future his least price of $2500 even and I think coming down upto 1300$=1btc is impossible. I think for buyer it will be a just a dream that it can come down to 1300$. Instead of wasting time to wait for $1300 for 1 btc, I would suggest a man to earn more money through signature campaign and then buy bitcoin, whatever the price would be that time.

That will be possible only in our dreams and definitely it will not going down back at $1300 even $1500 is impossible now . The bitcoins price is ready to spike upward in any day .That $1300 will be added in the future price of bitcoins not to go back on that.
