I think it is due to the active development of the Ethereum eco system. More banks are using the Ethereum.

But when you look at coinmarketcap btc still has the edge over eth in terms of 24 hour volume.

the reason is one word and that is "pump".
most probably the reason for this pump is that there is a competition between whales of ethereum and whales of Dash. they are pumping their coins and are competing against each other you can find both of their spams everywhere!

as I said in another topic, it is hard to predict it at this point. and if you ask me entering now is not such a good idea although price may continue to go up. because as the bubble grows the chance of a burst and price falling down increases day by day.

I remember that late last year, many members of this forum already proclaimed Ether to be dead and they expected the coin to lost its value and significance due to many underlying and obvious reasons. And now it is making a big comeback. I am sure that those who continued to hand on to Etherium are now having some great and smiling days. This can be another very good successful coin considering that it already experienced so many ups and downs and has already built up a good reputation in the cryptocurrency market. Long live Ether!

I think it is due to the active development of the Ethereum eco system. More banks are using the Ethereum.

more tokens are using the network and the gas is pretty much needed to send ETH from wallets to wallets. its going to go up more if you don't buy now, you'd once again be late for the next ride. it often for someone who doesn't look at where its heading. ICOs are already accepting ETH, didn't you noticed that too?

you forgot that ethereum will go pos, and miners will not be abele to dump endless, this is why investors are buying now and stacking while they can produce many amount of ETH later, i think it's a wise decision, ethereum also is huge as a marketcap and will not fall easy imho
to my surprise etc is there dying and no one care anymore if the first chain was premined more and dumped by vitalik, you see also that premine ar enot always bad

ETC could be just a scam coin to enrich the hacker and some scammers.

The Casper PoS will not switch all of the PoW systems into the PoS system Because The Casper pos has built by PoW(basic). It makes the ethereum will be the PoS and PoW coin.

I see that since the advent of ETH, they do a very good promotion and also the advantages that can be obtained by those who use the coin makes many ETH devotees. I'm sure if you know about travel ETH, because since the time Crowdsale ETH already many devotees until the 6th is not possible for the higher growth of the ETH.If you want to get an advantage in the ETH then you should learn the coin, so that the path you take is not out of line (it doesn't have an advantage)

etc was created for those that missed the train, the dev was thinking to make other rich by providing another chain and new fresh investment, but the new chain did not have any big value like the original ethereum, also it has not the same development, this is making the thing worse for ETC
