Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Huh? Scary in which sense. i286 shows 2500 coins down to 121 USD (from 126.7 where we are now). For bitstamp, which in the past has been more of a "seller's exchange" that's a pretty good depth actually.

Or did I misunderstand what you meant by "scary"?

Not sure which Bitcoin wallet you should use? Get Electrum!
Electrum is an open-source lightweight client: fast, user friendly, and 100% secure.
Download the source or executables for Windows/OSX/Linux/Android from, and only from, the official Electrum homepage.

Yesterday the depth was 1.9m. Now it is less than 1.4. I have been seeing walls getting removed all day. Even a bunch of those walls at 100 are gone.

 Cool

I don't have any USD balance but I could leverage my BTC on Bitfinex. About how much extra $$$ worth of leverage would you need?

Just take it like a man, if it goes down it will be a couple bucks not a crash. Also China has woken up big time and are taking over the lead from the US.

Right now, there is 4000 coins to 121. Some one must have put a large order up since you posted that...

This is now the wild card in all this. This is like the equivalent of HUGE news, almost like insider info. Will be interesting to see if their buying continues.
There is no float when you think about it. Current prices can't support China getting involved at all.

I wonder why there is no HUGE premium (no premium at all actually) on Bitcoins in China though? Arbitrageurs must work overhours.

That's not the explanation. You can't easily change CNY to other currencies.

Before the 260 Crash the Chinese market was trading 10-15% higher constantly, that's the cost if you need to import your BTC.

Don't ask me what's going on now - but I can ensure you, the Chinese also don't know. Some say rich real-estate people sell some apartments to get into BTC now...

Stop worrying, start to love the Chinese.

I haven't actually checked the price, just noticed the volume. Really, the bigger question should be the volume. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. (Not that you are)

Not sure what you are getting at but obviously they are not doing lots of "selling" as the price hasn't been going down there.

Stamp is 79% of Gox volume (USD) over last 30 days.  Greater 24hr volume for a few days now (lower overall volume).

Things shift quickly..

And then of course there's btcchina silently sneaking up..

Most chinese exchanges have zero fee.

That boosts their volume artificially.

So how do they stay in business?
