A lot of people (including myself) have time to time posted asking for donations sometimes just to have coins sometimes for maybe philanthropic reasons, would it be useful to have a board dedicated to people just asking for coins, so that way people who want to ask, and those who want to give have a central board to do without feeling they have to sell something like the market place.

Just a thought.

I regularly donate to charities that accept bitcoin about $10 worth a week on average.  As for bitbeggers NO!

Does anybody really donate to any of the beggars on this forum (or anywhere for that matter)?

Unless there are people who are looking to give money to beggars, we do not need a separate board.

It seems more likely that someone would be looking to donate to a charity, so a separate board may be appropriate. However, my only fear is an increased portion of scams. Charities would need to be verified as trustworthy somehow.

Nope.  Consigning those topics to Off-Topic keeps down the number of people soliciting funds.

There aren't enough charitable efforts right now to justify a separate board and those that do exist are pretty much reputation based - they haven't gone to the effort of setting up a proper legal entity for the purpose.  Essentially, you're donating to forum members and trusting that they'll use the funds for charitable purposes.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

if you mean "givaways" then use the off topic section.

if you mean charity. then search bitcoin100

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

there's a masters student from U of Nottingham giving out ~0.04 BTC if you complete a simple cognitive excercise (looking at and judging the expressions on photos of faces)

Its tough to get a handel on proper wallet usage without a little BTC in there to see if you're backing up and transacting properly.

We have one already. It's known as the Trashcan board. Seriously, I delete all begging threads especially if it's in the newbie subsection. We get an average of 1 per day.
