The nick originally came from one of the fake accounts I made on google for spam mail. To come up with names I looked up lists of the most common names in various countries. Kochmann is a typical surname in germany and I wrote that Mr. Kochmann was "born" in 1979. This is a shortened version of what google came up with.

My screen name is a cliche that was appropriate for the Oil Drum forum that I frequented 8 years ago and I kept it.

Even though digital currencies are technically fiat - I like how they get around the truly flawed fiat currencies of the world...

Robot's Rebellion is one of my all-time favourite pop-sci cognitive psychology books. My name also doubles as a reference to the upheaval of society by automation, and the eventual struggle surrounding the rights of machines in an era of Strong A.I.

Mine was generated by Xbox Live years ago, and it's just become such a personal identifier for me, it's like a second name.

gork as it has been a nickname since my military days because it is short for my last name of 11 letters... 68 is my favorite number!
