People are switching to Litecoin as the currency of use. BTC is far too slow now.
I've had a BTC transaction pending at Coinbase for 39 hours. For this reason, I'll never use BTC again.
LTC has all the momentum right now.

Guys, the new story on the web is about the lighting network and how it will make the Altcoins worthless as BTC will become faster and the fee will drop . What are your thoughts about it ? Do you really believe it will happen ?

There is a lot of attention around fixing BTCs "features". Some are doubtful if the lightning network will actually solve anything while others are confident it will: https://medium.com/@murchandamus/i-have-just-read-jonald-fyookballs-article-https-medium-com-jonaldfyookball-mathematical-fd112d13737a

The most important thing in my opinion is that with the increase in price, there are many (rich) holders who have the motivation and means to dedicate significant development resources for improving Bitcoin. In any case, I do not think altcoins would became worthless, though the playing field will change even faster than before.

Great share . Some also say BTC and some Altcoins will never give up to the transfer fees they are getting . Although technically all sound great, the money may stop the concept to get out from the source.

Not sure the other alt coins would disappear...what happens if there's huge traffic congestion on any one network? Best to have at least 5 solid networks with Ehterium, Bitcoin/lightning, monero, Dash, cash etc....

I think it's a good coin (obviously a newbie opinion  Grin ). Maybe has a bright future, but have to wait maybe the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019.

I see Vertcoin growing alot more in market cap in the future. It is much better technically and fundamentally as compared to Bitcoin or Litecoin. Vertcoin has to catch up to its peers.

Thanks OCMiner.

Also those who are reading yet not involved - it's worth noting the halving has happened!

This means that the block reward (for solving the difficulty of each block) has gone from 50 to (now) 25.

Some obvious benefits are - more scarcity (a lower rate of coins being created - still the same total), also less coins being dumped onto exchanges by miners. It also represents a level of maturity and foundation the coin has created over the last 4 years.

Plenty more great news to come!
When did the halving occur? Also, if difficulty keeps rising at the same time, then mining will not be profitable at all...

Do your maths ,how many coins do you know according to what you typed above are not profitable mining ?

BTC isn't about speed and transaction fees. It's name, carries network effect and is having first mover advantage. It's store of value. Compare it to gold .. not easy to carry, spend but have great value.

You would never buy your coffee with BTC but probably will buy your mansion with it.
