Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I transfer all my funds out of the exchanges all the time I'm not trading for this very reason. But this outage happened when all the funds were inside :/

Im in the uk, and they mess up payment transfers all the time....their only saving grace was uptime
