Hmm... not much good using a fork designed to increase the max blocksize limit if you can't... increase the max blocksize.

It's a p2pool bug, not a Classic bug.

I don't recall saying it was a classic bug anywhere... but I understand your desire to pop up here and defend classic in that way.

You can increase the max block size limit, just not the soft limit when mining with p2pool.

When I search for "p2pool blocks", I still get the seriously out-of-date p2pool.info page. I know there is a more accurate one out there but it doesn't appear to show in the search results. Any ideas on what we can do to either get p2pool fixed or disabled with a redirect and/or get the other page promoted in the search rankings? The defunct page is also cited in the first post in this thread (paging forrestv)

I wouldn't be surprised if this page has been fairly damaging to p2pool to be honest.

so where is P2Pool heading? 8 days expected to find a block.. shouldn't we at least remove the "pay only the last 3 days" part? and make sidechain with longer block time ( less work restarts, longer chain )..
so PPLNS could average over the last 30 days or so?

If there is a hardfork necessary to support >1M blocks, that would definitely be the right time to do something about this.

At the moment, when mining with p2pool you're essentially betting on the pool to find a block in the next three days, which is roughly 30%. Otherwise your hashrate is completely wasted, isn't it?

Plenty of hashrate is wasted anyway. It means it isn't counted as part of your share though. If your percentage of the pool hashrate remains fairly constant, it won't really make much difference.

Yea, it's a bummer, that bottom node was restarted 9 days ago, must be automated.

It's IP is hosted in Hungary by Internet4U, but aside from an abuse email for the full IP block I'm not able to find any contact info...

This one seems to be on testnet or something. Says 50BTC block reward, and it was just started on 2/23 as you can see in the stats.

If there's no contact to be found, one could try to reach the miner(s) via tiny BTC payment with a message attached.

It only creates an address if you don't specify one on the command line when starting your node.  That's because it needs a default address to account for node fees and also any shares generated by miners trying to use something other than their BTC address as a username.

If you then have two miners on your node and they are using proper BTC addresses (B and C), then if they have any shares on the chain when a block is hit, the coinbase transaction will directly pay to B and C.

There are two separate parts to running your own node.
Bitcoin core (Which has wallet capabilities but warning using these wallets while running full node required for p2pool https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node )
P2pool (when you start p2pool using "python run_p2pool.py" add parameter -a {YOUR BITCOIN ADDRESS HERE})
EXAMPLE OF RUNNING P2POOL WITH DEFINED WALLET (python run_p2pool.py -a 1MuRbSfrKi6KErZjGfiMec76dEkt12fbvg)
When you point your miner to p2pool you also define your wallet under worker aka username but setup above will be a backup just in case you messed up something.

Thank you for explaining to me... so basically the BTC address that p2pool created in the bitcoin core is useless and the amount will always be zero unless someone mine on my p2pool and use their username other than a proper BTC address ? Is it correct?

ok let say my p2pool node have shares (which I assume is "my shares" in the p2pool web stat), and let say I mine at 100 GHZ and my friend at 80 GHZ... when a block is hit... I get 55.555% of the payment? and my friend the rest of it? or is it based on the "payout address" in the share data when you click the share.

Can you a little bit explain to me what is the advantage of running full node?
at the moment I only open port 9332 and 9333 so that my friend can connect to my p2pool.
I think I need to open port 8333 to run full node but I don't know what is the advantage of running full node?

as far as I know from jonny explanation is that the BTC address is useless unless someone mine on my p2pool node and not using their BTC address in their username
or unless I want to setup a -f (fee) on my p2pool node to receive fee. otherwise it will not be use for payment ?
