When you compare the quality of ASIC hardware, which is often reported as being delivered in a beat-up state, with forked miner software and dodgy firmware and how stable p2pool is, the double-standard about quality is obvious.

Yeah, it's strange how people could think it's the p2pool code that causes only select hardware to have problems. There was a time in the early days of ASICs when there actually was an issue with how p2pool talked to any ASIC based hardware, then that got fixed.

Now that those who previously complained about this have changed their minds in a haughty foot-stomping sob, maybe we can forget about it. Tip for you guys: stop buying incompatible hardware, or cursing the sky for being blue  Cheesy

Re: Bitfury, the OneString devices also work on p2pool, the BFSB design was the only one that doesn't AFAIK.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

What's ironic is that users don't understand that it's .....blahblahblah

Hello forrestv/his lover - nice of you to drop in. Are you upset because users are trying to improve something that you convinced yourself was perfect in every detail for the last 2 years? Don't be - you should be happy  Wink

Hello forrestv

Stupid introduction without basis and in direct contradiction with public posts for the last 2 years on bitcointalk everyone can check out.

/his lover

Kindergarten-level taunting.

- nice of you to drop in. Are you upset because users are trying to improve something that you convinced yourself was perfect in every detail for the last 2 years?

"Users trying to improve" -> trolls that have repeatedly demonstrated they don't have anything to contribute other than their continuous rants.

Foregone conclusion: one more ignore. Enjoy ranting with other unproductive trolls wasting each other time.

im looking for some help to get my p2pool working properly. it is currently displaying about 10x lower local hashrate than i am actually doing. i made the networks.py files for fuelcoin and have been working to get a good p2pool working for it. is there any way i could get the proper hashrates to display. and if you have any suggestions for my p2pool to get it working a bit better that would be great.

It would be nice to have share info after rebooting p2pool node, someone with the skills could do that. Please.
I think it could be easy, but..

f = open("shares.txt","w")

replaced with

f = open("shares.txt","a")

The log file is a pretty good place to start...

This is untested but should work OK assuming you have enough memory to grep the log...

Code:
<?php
$share_pattern
'/GOT\ SHARE/';
$log_path '/path/to/logs/p2pool';
$shares preg_grep($share_patternfile($log_path));
foreach(
$shares as $share)
{

$pieces explode(" "$share);

$shareDate $pieces[0]." ".$pieces[1];

$shareMiner $pieces[4];

$shareShare $pieces[5];

$shareDoa = (isset($pieces[10]) ? true false);

$values[] = array('miner'=>$shareMiner'share'=>$shareShare'date'=>$shareDate'doa'=>$shareDoa);
}
print_r($values);
?>

I'm not familiar with the error, but I'd start with checking:

Anyone using [ny|sf].proxypool.doge.st ?  I was mining there for months and then yesterday NY stopped accepting my connections, then SF did (although I can't really mine on SF with the lag from me).  Not sure what happened but I've been running 2 connections from the same IP for a while then all of a sudden, the door slams.  I've emailed but no answer.  I've tried from one of my cloud servers and they get in fine, but of course can't mine.

I've gone ahead and plopped down the $20/mo for a VPS to run my own p2pool node since the closest one to me is 46ms.

I guess the only other question is, what are the specifics for tuning a p2pool node for DOGE...I know BTC but DOGE is a different animal.

Thanks...

A REBOOT FIXED IT ALL........

Just curious, I run all antminers....S1 and S2  total 4 TH.... I get 4 TH on my own pool and seem to have no issues?
It seems like I hear a lot of people having problems with the S2's??

S1's work fine with p2pool, but S2's lose between 10%-15% hash rate.......

Hey Guys...I hope I am asking in the right area.
Looks like we got a block, how come, my estimated payout... and the the section that says if a block were found now.....
Did not even come close to that number not even half?HuhHuh
Just trying to understand it......
Its so low payout..... makes it not worth giving this much time to a pool???
Can anyone help me understated a bit better without writing a book???
I want to stay with this as I love it, but the electric bills over 1200.00
cant let me make 20.00 a day?Huh?
Thanks so much in advance....

how long have you been mining with p2pool?  it takes about 3 days to get up to par with the estimated payout because of the PPLNS.

1200 electric bill?  that's either some seriously expensive electricity, or some serious hashrate.

The expected payout can go up and down with your submitted shares, usually takes 3 days to peak then settles down, you can take a look at a few miner dashboards on my node (sig link) to get an idea of what to expect.

My payout has always been exactly what was predicted at the moment a block is found...
