There are OCR that can recognize some handwriting, to make things worse. I don't know how effective they are, though.

Also OP said anything about rates, even if only for reference.

I think he would have more chances if he tries some freelancer sites, maybe there are some that accept Bitcoins

Indeed, there are. They don't do the whole work though. It's a great start but especially when the text is nearly unreadable no OCR will work.

I understand I might not find work over here but I'm only interested in getting paid via Bitcoins or Amazon GC's so I'll keep this thread open as I hope I'll find work now and then here

It totally depends on the quality of the text (as in how fast I can realize what's wrote) and how big it is.

If you send me a few documents I can give you a price tag on each of them

And totally, I have a lot of experience using TeX and LateX so that won't be an issue!

Hey, OP. Why don't you offer your services on Fiverr, Gigs, UpWork, or Freelance? They got plenty of transcription work to do and less competition – like UpWork, for example. Unless you want to be paid in Bitcoin, those sites will provide you a lot of work.

thank you for the recommendations!

I don't really like those websites, they keep a significant fee and there's like 500 guys trying to get the same work so it's kind of hard.

I'd rather keep myself here, I might not get many sales but the ones I do will be very significant.

And yes, I'd really like to get paid in Bitcoin for these services.

Can you just let us know the rates on which you work ? Per word rate / Per page rate etc. Of course transcribing handwritten documents rates are much lower than writing an article in your own words.

I usually charge $1.5 per 1000 words.

Rates can be discussed though, I transcribe pretty fast and as long as it's not unacceptable I'll accept the rates.
