Hey, I'm still learning how Ethereum works.

I've made a transaction which does not show up in my Ether client, but is visible on the blockchain. Any ideas why?

Has the client downloaded the full blockchain?
If not - you should do that first.

Hmm... it doesn't seem to "sync" or anything like the other wallets like Bitcoin and Dash. What should I do?

There at the top you see the state of syncing, says
