Ethereum (ether) question

Hey, I'm still learning how Ethereum works.

I've made a transaction which does not show up in my Ether client, but is visible on the blockchain. Any ideas why?

Has the client downloaded the full blockchain?
If not - you should do that first.

You need to wait for the synchronization of your wallet.

Hmm... it doesn't seem to "sync" or anything like the other wallets like Bitcoin and Dash. What should I do?

There at the top you see the state of syncing, says

3,238,552 blocks left, 2% done.

But it is static like that, nothing happens :S
