Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Maybe this is april fools day, just realising there are new decorations popping up at 4/1/2017. I am a "Round defender" maybe should take a look at "Round" whatever that is. Never heard of, not recognized at any tradesite at all!

Mona wasn't that something very personal, a coin made by dad for his daughter just for fun? Not so sure if that could grow into a million dollar market share. And Digibyte has no track record of reliably attracting the gamer scene. Ripple can inflate supply at their leisure.
Sorry guys those are all duds, none will fire. Monero seems real but overpriced right now. For 100$ you will not even get a half dozen.

Go for Ethereum, there's the technology frontier. Or get some Litecoin, in the rare case that BU/BCC/BCU/whatever messes up there's the safe heaven.

Looking at how recently some altcoins have exploded in price, which upcoming or new altcoins (the ones valued currently around $0.01 or lower) would you feel comfortable investing money in in order to hold them for a possible future payout?

I've been considering Monacoin and Digibyte. Buying them at fractions of cent and holding them could pay off well even if they only rise slightly.

Consider if you put $100 in a coin currently valued at $0.001, you could have 100,000 of that coin. If a few years down the line that coin rises to just $0.25, you're 100,000 coins are now worth $25,000.00

I would choose
1.Decred
2.Ethereum
3.Dash.
I think Decred is the most under valued coin now.

Among three altcoins yes, Decred definitely is the most cheapest when it comes to pricing.

I am not really an investor, but if i had to put 100 bucks on cryptos, it would be :

1- Lisk 50$ : Because they have a steady work flow, and will provide for sure a nice project. For long term investment.
2- Golem 10$ : Because, as of now, they still need help to finish their system, and when they will release a functional code, the price will raise for sure, and i will personally use them. Long term.
3- PIVX 30$ : Because it is a bubble, and it can still stay on top for a moment, but i would sell at 25%-50% marging. Short term.
4- Arco 10$ : Because they have a great dev, who is really active, and they deserve to be supported. Long term.

I would say just read White paper of each coin it will tell you progress weather they working on a plan or its just a coin forgotten. I am always looking different website for coins and youtube to gather more info before investing I am not a rich man yet lol but my favorites are below for many good reasons.

1.Ethereum
2.Credibit  - Crbit shifting to ethereum block chain will be called as Crbit Token will advance techs with DAPS and Creditbay to 10 times faster then bitcoin.
3.PIVX: Very good privacy Masternode benefit , proof of stake for small investers good community.
4.Zclassis: Zclassis is fork of Zcash and Now Zclassic is converting into Zencoin which have more buzz in the market due to Zenapps , ultimate privacy good govern.

Make your own searching before investing ........
Good day

There are a lot of good coins to invest in but if you want to gain big,you have to hold for long.
I would have invested in the following coins.
1.ICN .I strongly believe it is going to reach $10 per icn within a year.
2.Kmd it is also my best bet and I want to put as much as I can.
3.ETH. Last but definitely not the least Ethereum has got huge potential but for $100 you can only buy 2 of it.

OP true, this includes small gambling and get a large win. one XRP , this altcoin very privileges, within 14 days XRP is always increasing. when it had $ 100 to invest, then you should divide the two investments, for altcoin and ico. 50% in altcoin are going uphill, and 50 $ for ico right, and I suggest to see wetrust, ico very passable. and in one year, is likely to win $ 2000, and this makes sense.

instead of theory-crafting and doing crazy investments with high risks try to stick to what has potential. for example if $100 is all your money that you are willing to invest then invest it in bitcoin and enjoy the slow but sure profit.

other than that try to find altcoins that have good potential of going up like those with a potential new release that can change things for them. for example Litecoin is so hot these days, it is going to have SegWit activated soon and when it does it will go very high.

edit: i just realized my tag says "Litecoin Professional" Cool

Ripple(XRP). Because its more cheaper and more profitable to invest today. Afaik, its the only alt which is in positive right now. I will give my 50% to ripple.

Monero(XMR). Its still sleeping but good in the long run. Maybe 30% is enough.

And the other is for Ethereum(ETH). Its good in the long run too.

Price of burst is still lower than 0.01$ and i see lots of potential it have and can be good to hold for future. Few other coins that are still undervalued are kmd, byteball and monero.

I have 2 investment advice, which is to ICO and altcoin, perhaps with 100 $ that will be evenly divided, the next time when that will certainly have its own balance.

for altcoin:
1. LTC
2. XRP
3. ICONOMI

and see EDG for the next few weeks, after being released kemarket likely to have prices climb

for ICO:
1. Taas
2. wetrust

This is ico I follow now, is likely to have a use value and the value after ico completed.

to meminimalizir losses I prefer splitting for some investment capital, and see what happens a long road .

What about Stratis? Do you foresee any future for this coin?
Beeing on both, Poloniex and Bittrex, having performed +30.98% (both again, $ or BTC) today it is definitely "hot" right now. Tradeable on a thousand bitcoins volume. That justifies lingering some more, so yes, future of sorts.
If ETH goes POS these two have similar basics, I cannot oversee the exact differences between C# or .NET DAPP develoment in comparison with Solidity or their Python dialects used on Ethereum. You would need a programing expert for that, not an investor type of person. Just a blunt reply: ETH has languages specialized for the task, Stratis reuses existing ones that might not fit exactly.

Right now it is a pump. On fundamental similarities STRAT are several oders of magnitude undervalued against ETH. Maybe taking STRAT as a hedge against ETH cold storage? Buying similar number amounts, that would be a win if they reach parity even if ETH falls.

1. Decred
2. Monero
3. Hard to say the last, seeing as its only $100 and their inflation rate is not 100% anymore maybe Steem, or maybe Augur, possibly Storj.

I own the first two, I don't currently own a 3rd.
