I'm an ex-faucet owner... and an ex-faucet user. Lately I keep wondering:
Why do people keep on claiming for peanuts, when they can earn more with fi captcha work?

Why do faucets even exist? Why spent hours clicking anti-botlinks, struggling with popups and -unders, ...?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I also have that question. There have been numerous occasions where I suggested that people go pick up pennies in the streets instead of clicking faucets.
Did faucets EVER give any considerable/worthwhile amount of coins?

It's obvious however that faucets exist because people keep clicking them.

Even asking money outside a church you make much more cash (a lot).

It's everyones decision if it is a waste of time or not. Sure, there are better ways to earn money, but calling someone an idiot for doing so, is definitely wrong!

My motivation to create a faucet was to learn. Learn PHP, taking care of a faucet and see what the struggles are with it.

Why people play it? Because they like it? I just hope that most of the players know that they won't earn big cash with that and that they do it for the fun.

I am pretty sure that you guess spend your time somehow, where others think it is a waste of time Wink

What is "fi captcha work"?

I see some people saying we can earn more by asking for tips on the street, by doing dishes at restaurants... I agree it would better, but as cz3kit said, for some people faucets are fun and they aren't doing this only for money, but because they like it, principally the thematic faucets. And for some people every cent counts...

Also, most people doing faucets don't have restaurants where to do the dishes for money or they don't have people able to give them tips on the streets as everybody on these areas are poor.

I'm still using faucets and sometimes I asking myself - why I'n doing that?
Yes, earnings from faucets are very low, but I like to get money almost by doing nothing. And when I look at my total earnings from faucets - it's really nice amount of money. I'm holding my earnings from faucets and, bitcoins which I claimed 2 years ago, now is worth few times more.
Many people are still using faucets because they don't have skills for more serious jobs. For these people who are living in third world countries even earnings from faucets is realy important part of their income.
Also, if we have some referrals who joins our ref links, it's possible to earn decent money (especially for these who live in poor countries.

The cost of internet and power supply would be higher than their earnings.

True. But as far as I can see that's the only way to actually earn something decent from faucets.

I use a faucet to waste time, to kill boredom, from time to time, and along the way due to the BTC, LTC, DOGE; DASH
you can not constantly be on exchange and trade needs time to some coins that price grow, so why not collect the faucet especially if you do not have better things to do currently
under the faucet i consider some simple games olso, that pay you for playing of course

As a ex-faucet owner and ex-faucet user I'm surprised that you even ask this question.Faucets are easiest and simplest way to new users familiarize themselves with the world of cryptocurrency and get their first coins almost for free, they have invest only some of their free time.

I get my first BTC mostly from faucets in time when price is around 200$,daily was claim and get from refs around 400-500k satoshi, now all that is worth almost six times more.Do you and your friends posted in this thread think it was wasted time?

I see that you suggest people to work solving captcha,do you know for what bad things that solved captcha is used?

Faucets are here to bait idiots in reviewing their ads.

Calling people idiots just talking about you,you are most likely sissy boy that get everything in life on a silver plate and you have no idea that there are countries in the world where people work all month for 20-30$.

Who keeps wasting time on faucets? Am I the only one who's thinking this?

You did not think about it when you were pocketing profits through adsense from your faucet (bitblabber) through the same users you just compared to dish washers. Not being rude mate, but never criticize a thing from which you have at least earned a penny.

Another guy with a sig attached to his tail was suggesting to beg outside a church, another lesson mate, never suggest anything which you have not done yourself.

Let's come to the point, faucets were introduced as a medium to introduce people to bitcoins, now the scenario has changed, for some faucet users from underdeveloped countries it might be a passive income and the faucet admins are making money by bait idiots in reviewing their ads, it is mutual coexistence, why bother about it.

And the alternative suggestion is captcha solving, don't see much difference, come up with something better mate Smiley

Wow, you really go into some kind of defensive mode. I must have touched something there.

Pocketing?! Profits?! It was almost nothing I earned with BitBlabber and LS. You obviously don't know what you are talking about.
If it was really earning me that much, why would I have stopped it? Why would I stop it if it was earning me anything at all?
It was next to nothing. Not worth the time. Sorry for not wanting to work 4 hours a day to make $5 per week.
$5 for 28 hours of work. That's ridiculous. Dishwashers earn $9-$10 an hour here. Beggers outside the church bring in more than that.
You must have understood me wrong: I have no disrespect for dish washers (or beggers for that fact). Where did I compare faucet users to dish washers? Please, don't put words in my mouth.

I regret the time I spent on BB and LS. And I really do mean that. But that's enough about me and BB/LS now.

Back to my point.

Let's come to the point, faucets were introduced as a medium to introduce people to bitcoins,

I agree to that. But you already mention yourself that times have changed. Bitcoin has grown and has become more popular.
Come up with something better? Mhmm captcha work is my best guess. Gambling, investing, trading... Isn't that something for the 1%'ers? The other 99% will be disappointed, like me.

Got any ideas?

I am not sure where you are going with this thread.

I guess we all can agree that it is not possible to have a income with faucets. Especially where BTC is so high. Like said, some use the site because they like themed faucets and some do it to kill bit of time. You have a lot of people who spend hours playing computer games, something I would say is also a waste of time nowadays.

Do you try to figure out to get more BTC with a better method than faucet?

True, there are still plain one where you just have to collect your satoshi. Actually this is hard to answer. There are a different motivations: getting into btc and start to get a few is one of the biggest motivations for plain faucets. That is just my experience Cheesy

Who knows how long they will survive.

When you ask people why they are gambling they say it's for fun.
When you ask people why they are using faucets they say it's for fun.
Is anyone doing anything for money?  Grin

In my honest opinion there is nothing funny in solving captchas, you can have fun if you play some kind of faucet games but you can't play them all, maybe one or two, I guess.
