I've recently run into an issue with my new setup where whenever a YouTube video begins to play (even through an ad on a webpage) my computer locks up.
(Details: First the screen separates from the mouse, making it so I am unable to click anywhere. Then, about 10 seconds later the mouse disappears. Finally, about a minute later my music cuts out, and I have to reset my PC. Even right in the beginning, Ctrl+Alt+Delete or any other keyboard commands have no effect. Also, the YouTube video does not actually play.)
My setup:
Running dual non-reference 6950's at 910MHz Core, 650MHz Mem, 1149mV, 79 degrees each under 98% load.
Windows 7 64-bit, running the Catalyist 11.1 drivers (11.2+ drivers cause screen tearing when I attempt to boot into windows).
GUIMiner client, 2 OpenCL workers pointed towards BTC guild.
Flags for both workers, -f128.
Any advice or suggestions? Bounty will be paid to anyone who can solve this problem, the amount will depend upon the ease of the solution.

Isn't the flag -f ## to state what processing ratio pace exists?
Running beyond -f60 seems foolish.
When I was messing around with dual pools on one card I noticed that anything past -f15 drove the hash rate to nearly nothing.

I don't lose more than 2-3MHs with -f128, and it allows me to play games without turning my workers off (they just scale down to use whatever GFX power my games don't use).

SOLUTION TO PERMANENTLY DISABLE HARDWARE ACCELERATION FOR YOUTUBE VIDEOS:
1: Open Browser --> Navigate to Youtube.com --> Open video --> Right Click --> Settings --> Untick 'Enable Hardware Acceleration' --> Close Browser
2: Navigate to %appdata%/.../adobe/flash player and delete the folder.
3: Navigate to %appdata%/.../macromedia/flash player and delete the folder.
4: Repeat Step 1.
From now on your hardware acceleration should be permanantly disabled, even with a browser close.
(Note: The only thing I haven't yet tested to see if this works is after a computer reboot)

Had to reboot couple of times when accidentally started YouTube while mining.

You could go through all that or you could simply just disable video related hardware acceleration in your video card control panel a.k.a catalyst.

My buddy is currently running a Win7 x64 box with a pair of non-ref Diamond 6950s (flashing the bios and still seeing 1408 shaders was a sad, sad day) co-lo in my living room  I'm going to try your clocks when I get back to the apartment, but he's running 800 MHz currently due to heat. What other flags (besides -f128) do you use and what hashrates are you getting? Besides screen tearing, were the newest Catalyst drivers affecting your hashrate? He's only pulling 630 MHs right now due to heat issues/crashes and I'd like to improve that for him. |

Screen tearing was to the point that it was impossible to navigate through windows. I'm honestly not sure if 'tearing' is the right term, but a bunch of horizontal multi-colored lines with an overall gray hue went through my screen covering the entirety of the windows desktop - it was impossible to do anything, and I'm not even certain an autoloading miner would even get started. I think 630 MHs is respectable all things considered if you don't want to burn out your fans/cards. |
