Anyone here bought a miner from eBay?

What should I look for?

I'm looking at this seller: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=joobartoloo

Feeback is good and replied fast to all my questions.

Currently has 7 miners for auction and I can pickup the miner in France and pay with btc.

Do you think it's a good deal? What should I be careful with?

Example:

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Well yes if you can get the right price. eBay sellers tend to gouge prices immensely due to fees and such which makes buying from them even with bitcoin not worth it most of the time. I've found a few deals for slightly older miners but that's about it; of course if you want to avoid import tax you can also buy from such people, albeit at a higher price than from some people on the forum.

This guy is selling each S9 for 1 BTC.

It seems a good deal to me considering I'll pick it up and not paying in advance.

I have no experience with these miners so I'm afraid it might not be at 100%.

You're going to want to make sure you have the proper power to start it up.

Make sure you know how to turn it on and connect everything properly so you don't damage the device.

Yes price is actually good. And also good that you can pick it up or try. But eBay protects buyers really well. So even if you get DOA miner you will get all your money back. That is if you buy on eBay and not directly.

edit: Problem is Antminer itself. as you can read in forum. many users having problems with dying S9/L3/R4

You have zero protection if you pay with btc.

Even if you pick it up in person then drive 10 kilometers or whatever back to your home.

If it is doa or it  breaks  in a day  you paid in BTC  you will not get your money back.

S-9's Break a lot.

1 BTC  is a good price  but lets do a cost for your roi.

here is free power and 2% difficulty (at 3 or 4 % you are worse off)

along with a free psu  you need 180 days  before you break even.

Thanks for this insight.

I'll not proceed with this deal.

I guess it doesn't make sense to become a miner so late in the game.

Free power  and very reliable gear works.

Really cheap power also works.

The S-9 breaks a lot.

If you buy 1 and it breaks  you are dead in the water.

You took pool fee 2% but ddin't include transactions fees which you can get on most pool. Right now tarnasactions fees are usually 1.5-2BTC per block. So you are looking at least at 10%+ rewards. On other hand 2% diff increase is far too low in long run. You are looking at atleast 4-5% not to be overly optimistic.
