I am considering moving from Windows to Ubuntu and I'm thinking through all of the changes I would have to make.

In Windows, I currently use WiTopia's VPN, which is cheap ($60/year), solid, and fast.  It's so fast that I leave it on all the time.  It lets you pick a gateway in your choice of about 40 different cities around the globe.  Unfortunately, it is not available for Linux.

I have used Tor on Linux, but it's just too dog-slow to use all the time.

Can anyone recommend a VPN service that works well on Linux?  It does not need to be free.

Linux supports pretty much every VPN protocol under the sun. Did this VPN provider roll their own instead of using one of the existing VPN standards?

It may take some fiddling but I bet you can get your preferred vpn working on linux. Most use IPSEC.

WiTopia doesn't support Linux directly, but it seems it's possible to use it with Linux.

If you decide to look for another VPN provider, anyone who supports OpenVPN should work in Linux.
