I'm more optimistic then ever when It comes to bitcoin future at this point, Japan regulated bitcoin and they consider it as a real payment method now, this should make people feel more secure and confident knowing that what ever happened to Mt.gox in the past won't happen again and encourage companies and individuals to start using it.

I have always said Japanese have always been one of the biggest pioneers in technologies. and now with bitcoin they have taken it to the next level. soon there will be lots more to come and other countries will be left behind.

i wonder at what point can we start calling Japan as a bitcoin safe haven.

I would also love to see some report of the usage of bitcoin by people (like number of bitcoin users) in a month or two from now.

This is a nice development from the Japanese Electronic company this will open up bitcoin acceptability by other companies around the world, this will make easier for a company to accept payment from a wallet for their goods and easy transactions. indeed it is a welcome development.

I saw something that made me very positive about this.... They introduced Bitcoin to people by giving them discounts on items when they paid

with bitcoins and in my opinion this is the best way to introduce people to the currency. You have to give them some sort of incentive to chose

bitcoins over other payment options or they will not opt to pay with Bitcoin.

That’s awesome. I hope that starts happening in other countries and for companies that are even more popular than Bic Camera. Still great news though.

Reading the article it looks like it was a hit in Japan when they announced it. I wonder if the price of the products changes to reflect the rise or fall in price of bitcoin. Otherwise someone could get a pretty good discount on a product by buying bitcoin when it was only 930 and buying the camera with the bitcoin when the price rose again to 1250.

Japan is a country that is a pioneer in technology and innovation. Therefore, I believe that the Japanese and especially the young ones, will embrace the possibility of payment by bitcoin. The most important thing in the future the Japanese tourists going abroad will require from stores to pay with bitcoin. That means at first the big stores as well as the stores for tourists will be bitcoin friendly in order not only to maintain but to increase their sales.

to me it only looks like people on bitcointalk have problem with transaction fee and talk about the confirmation time nonstop.
in real world, based on what i have been seeing nobody seems to have any trouble or even thinks about it as a problem. and they are happily using bitcoin as a currency!

Well, it is not a big surprise for me that Bic Camera will accept bitcoin payments so fast, because it was obvious that the online stores/shops will implement this before the others.
It is also not a surprise that the company from the electronic branch of the market is one of the first that will make a good change.
They are probably more into bitcoin, and Im sure that some of their team were already involved in bitcoin, if not cryptocurrencies.

More noise about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies overall, will bring us even more popularity to this world, and the price of BTC may also rise due to less supply and bigger demand.
I hope that other goverments will follow the steps of Japan, to make BTC one of the regular payment methods, it will be  an advantage for everybody, right?

Japan is clearly utilizing bitcoin's capability. With this huge adaption of bitcoin, no doubt that Japan will lead the world in terms of utilizing bitcoin to its full potential. Cool, I need to find a way to make myself richer enough to go and live in Japan, it seems the Japanese have decided to adopt bitcoin instead of trying to ban it, which is a wise choice, and makes any attempt of a ban on bitcoin non workable since bitcoin users could just move to Japan.

It is interesting to note that while China is now seemibgly confused what to do with Bitcoin, Japan has encouraged businesses To adopt it. Japan is synonymous with technology and their take in Bitcoin is nothing but putting their money where their mouth is. At that, we can rest assured that many countries and companies will take a cue from Japanese companies.
