Chain keeps getting stuck at 81%.

I've managed ta launch my older wallet version and it had synced normally to 100%. So, I guess the problem is on your side.

There are obvious that network the have a serious problems and they by themselves will not be solved in the near future.

What are the problems the network has? Is it safe to send coins?

Hello, sorry for the delay, everything will be back to normal in about an hour an half. Please test again!

I/m trying again right now. The process went much farther than yesterday. But had stuck again on the another file.
This is the listing from the installer:

Timeout trying to download file 'C:/Worldcoin/WorldcoinBC.exe', trying again ...
Timeout trying to download file 'C:/Worldcoin/WorldcoinBC.exe', trying again ...
Timeout trying to download file 'C:/Worldcoin/WorldcoinBC.exe', trying again ...
Timeout trying to download file 'C:/Worldcoin/WorldcoinBC.exe', trying again ...
Timeout trying to download file 'C:/Worldcoin/WorldcoinBC.exe', trying again ...

The files before this one had been downloaded quickly. But this one can't get the downloading progress to 100% for an hour already.

The network operates with large delays, which alternate with gaps with accelerated blocks.
This is due to significant fluctuations in the difficulty caused by undulating mining for quick profits by Chinese miners.
The fork has not yet occurred, but I recommend checking the block explorer before making transactions https://www.wdcexplorer.com/

Thank you for the explanation. Now I understand the problem.

Do you know when the fork is going to happen? Or is it just a plan for the future?

I hope that the fork will not happen in the near future, but as of how the reward in the block will decrease, fluctuations in the network can intensify.
If the profitability of mining falls to the level of energy costs, then any sudden arrival of a large Asic miner can cause a fork or stoppage of the network..

It's enough to look at the site http://coinmarketcap.com and similar on the WDC coins, such as EarthCoin and Infinitecoin where the fork has already occurred for these reasons.

I have double checked and everything is working right now, could it be your antivrus software? firewall?

Coins will arrive successfully, no problem. The problem is that with multipools mining and quit mining the time elapsed could vary.

The problem of the solution proposed by Shviecar (migrating to PoS + PoW scheme) is that it needs miners approval and at this instance it is difficult to think that miners will like the solution:

Us: "Hey miners we will switch to Pow + PoS so your fees will be reduced to half!
Miners: "Oh ok!, go ahead! we will still support WDC"

The conversation above will NOT happen. We need to rebuild our community first and only then try to convince miners to change protocol to something that will have strong impact in users mind share

Thank you. Well, maybe the problem is with my internet connection.
Anyway, the older wallet work fine. And network seems to be alright too. The coins moved successfully.

I can't even do that as the client doesn't open.

When you first install it, it downloads the blockchain and gets stuck at 81%. The only thing you can do is click done/next and then you see the client.

Unless I uninstall it I can't get the client to open again. So I guess I'll have to do that.

Anyone else using it on Win 10?

Who's the most trusted here with Worldcoin?

I think that there may be problems due to the lack of some files that need to be installed via additional Visual C ++ libraries or some updates (as was the case with one of the files in the vc_redist.x64 library).
In any case, using Windows 10 for any crypto currency wallets is a very reckless decision.
All your data (passwords, contacts and other personal information) will most likely be on Microsoft servers and no one knows when they will take advantage of it.

There are a lot of articles on disabling spyware modules and fixing security patches for Win 10
For example http://bgr.com/2015/07/31/windows-10-upgrade-spying-how-to-opt-out/
But any new update can simply change all your settings and add new ways to control your information and any data.

The latest and safe (with certain settings set up and without installing certain packages with updates) Windows system suitable for crypto currency is Win 7
