Check zcash for the gtx970 i don't know the accurat hashrate but nVidia performs well on zcash, for the i7 i know only one coin best for cpu mining it's monero, or you can hunt new coins and mine them with your i7 and sell when they gain some value.

On Zcash you should hit around 260 hash/s with GTX970

My gtx 970 gets 400 hashes/sec on monero. Does some work, good profits

It's not too bad but you should really consider ZEC, 260 hashes/s will earn you more than your 400 h/s on XMR
