What would you do and why? What's the problem your plan solve? Keyboards warriors!

Problem with DPRK:

Relative to China:

DPRK exports crystal meths to China... very bad! the kim court could have bad social repercussion in china, the concept itself.

Relative to USA:

Defeating a nuclear power would be great warning to all.

To solve: the frontier is 250 kms long between north and south. At least 100 km deep no life zone... impossible conventionnally.

25 Nukes along the border... to weaken reply to the south, then air superiorty, then all military infrastructures south to north and state structures, then all infrastrtures all by air. All things that float dprk sunk.. Launch november, moon less. By spring there will be nothing left. The End. 0 us forces on the ground.

The other plan is to capture Kimi alive... seems harder than the first plan and with more casualty...  but opportunity game.

3rd corruptions, pay key players to betray, but i don't think it will work and it miss the point of defeating a wmd state by war.

So I see you are supporting the USA and South Korea. Why ? Who needs to win here is North Korea. Someone need to destroy the United States at some moment or another, so better early than late. And if South Korea perish too, that will not be a big casualty...

Good question.

I would do absolutely nothing militarily. The nuclear thing is purely to shore up their own regime at home and yap for more respect elsewhere.

China is the key. I can see why the China of the 1950s didn't want a capitalist Korea at their doorstep, the China of the 2010s/20s is a very different prospect.

If everyone just concentrates on containment then eventually the DPRK will become even more of an embarrassment to China than it is already is. Once their support goes then so does the regime.

Sadly you don't seem to be a supporter of pax americana and don't recognize the manifest destiny of the usa? During pax americana the world has never been more prosperous and peaceful. And the manifest destiny of the usa make it through it's legislative framework a shining light in a world of full of darkness were intergenerational warlords keep harvesting their people while living themselves in the most oppulent way ever concieveable.

Non capitalist society have no chance against a capitalist country in war, a against the world reserve currency, they are toasted before it begins. It's a worldwide supply chain vs a closed country. The real question excluding the loss of all people in the targeted country is how to minize the ecological impact on a global scale of such an annihilation.

But what did DPRK do wrong?

1. Producing and selling crystal meth to china (usa were accused)
2. Developping a solid full  wmd program
3. Launching missiles in direction of japan
4. Selling and improving weapons to iran, hezbollas and co

I am not sure but it seems to b a violation of the spirit of the Junho... looking after $ by selling war... and it's taking market share from the us mic.

Problem is that what could china do that the us couldn't? DPRK could fight from the southern border against china invading too... so goes the nuke and co. Usa can still do it better (and it's a service provided by the currency reserve status).

Could dprk open up more and let the people there learn from the rest of the world? I don't think that the kim priests would allow such a thing to happen.

Then if you think about it, in 1990 a war against dprk would have left more people there alive, less in 2000 even less in 2010 and the longer it goes the less it will rest. The good news it can't be a genocide since south korea...

Anyway don't forget it's just keyboard warrioring and armchair generalling.

Soon they will have emp ready earth orbiters...

And finally is there a miss kim? Or the rumors of harems are true?

I did say non military. North Korea depends on China for pretty much everything in the way it used to with the USSR. If China cuts them off they're left with nothing.

No no, a little coal but that's mainly it. Read about junho, self reliance, self made etc. Dprk is one of the few country still at war with usa, so need for congress Smiley.

This dprk is a magnet to us forces and scrutiny and problematic for investments in the nearby area.

Subsidiary question: who will manage the transitional gov once kim is gone?

Come on, South Korea is the source of all the K-pop! Why would you want that destroyed? Cheesy

Jokes aside North Korea is inferior to the US in every way, less money, less people, weaker military, less land, less allies... There's no way it could win even against US alone, but US is  not alone. They are supported by South Korea, Japan, China... It's lights out for Kim.

Hell of a way to be talking, dude.

65 years ago, mad expansionist Red China supported N Korea, and it's expansionist plans. That stalled, hence N and S Korea. Today China's gone gangster-Kapitalist. NK is left alone with it's commie stupidity. NK goes into playing nuclear blackmail games, to get foreign currency.

China has changed. Time for NK to change and get with the 21st century.

It seems to me that the existing officials in North Korea will not change. Armchair generals can not fight. They have long fought and think old categories. All their hope on nuclear weapons and if they will not be able to use it then it will put them in a deadlock. They have no chance.

That is not true. For sure there is a lot of dependence on China, but in the recent years, Russia has started replacing China in some of the spheres. Also, North Korea is self-sufficient in a lot of the sectors.
