Italy is known for many things such as exquisite food, landscapes, art, science, technology and luxurious cars among other things. Despite the fact that there are only around 10 Bitcoin ATMs (or BTMs) considering how many Bitcoin machines you can find elsewhere, this mediterranean country is gaining a lot of interest and momentum around Bitcoin and digital currencies. There are a wide range of online shops that accept Bitcoin and altcoins payments but only a few of them are Italian-based. One of those is called My Btc Store, something similar to Ebay because it allows people to buy and sell items with Bitcoin, litecoin and dash. It is 100 percent Italian and fees are as low as 0.001 percent.
Inbitcoin is the first Italian company to allow merchants accepting Bitcoin in their store, both for B2B and B2C activities. Inbitcoin mainly operates in Trento, Rovereto, Pordenone and Milan but also works with innovative companies based in England, Luxemburg, Malta and Holland. Based in Rome for the greatest part, Blockchain Education Network Italia is an Italian association that aims at spreading the word of Blockchain technology through meetups, conferences and the development of new projects and startups based on the distributed ledger. It was born back in 2014 and now has more than 200+ associated within the whole country.
BlockchainLAB based in Milan and launched last year is the first entrepreneurial effort that brings together the best experts on the Blockchain in an Italian center of excellence dedicated to research. BlockchainLab members include entrepreneurs and developers that work on their own startups and companies as well, including Ethernity Wall, GreenAddress, HelperBit, HolyTransaction and more. Earlier last year the first master class about cryptocurrencies was held in Bari, organized by the Bitcoin foundation Puglia and the local Università degli studi Aldo Moro, south Italy. This foundation was created last year thanks to a few Bitcoin enthusiasts including, among the others, Giuseppe Grisorio and Alessandro Ricciuti.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Italy is not the first one of its kind who accepts bitcoin in local shops but a certain area in Netherlands that they called bitcoin city. But anyway I want to really go to a place who accepts bitcoin and I want to experience buying a coffee with bitcoin, watching a movie, sleeping in a hotel and a whole vacation using bitcoin. It will be fun and a new kind of experience. |

If they ban Bitcoin in my country, I will take a luxurious holiday of a life-time in a foreign country where bitcoins are accepted. Most countries have strict capital controls, but I will use methods to get past that to take my bitcoins out of my country and spend it on booze and goods and the nice things I cannot do in my own country. So yes..... I will take the holiday, I could not do in my own country and have a whale of a time. |

It's nice to know that Bitcoin is developing in Italy,I have a sister in law in Italy but she don't know anything about Bitcoin,this could be the right time to introduce to her what bitcoin is since there are shops that she can use bitcoin there.

I wish I could go to a nice place like Italy but lately I've been doing a lot of stay-cations in Canada. There's a lot to see here and I don't have to worry about the low value of our dollar. If bitcoins were accepted in a lot of places and it was possible to vacation just with bitcoins I would fly accross the ocean for sure! It'd be awesome to go to Rome some day.

Really? I left Italy this Wednesday, and I'm going back there next week, and I haven't seen any sign of BTC activity. What I've noted is that McDonald's used to offer free wifi in Italy, but that doesn't work any more. One guy told me that the places were getting crowded with African migrants who spent there hours, to get the free wifi but without ordering anything.
Do you have any link of an Italian website accepting BTC?

I would love to go to such countries.I too want to enjoy the feeling of spending bitcoins for our daily needs.So i have two spots now to spend my vacation, Italy and Japan.
I think that is about time, people started using bitcoin as a regular payment method in shops or supermarkets, maybe that going to Italy or japan you have the option to spend bitcoin there but does that mean that bitcoin is widely accepted there, does this mean that any shop or hotel or restaurant or taxi that you go to is going to welcome your bitcoin and accept it. The answer of course is no, because the bitcoin is not soothing that is implemented in the society by the government, it is still not yet supported by the Centrale banks or the laws of the market, the government does not ban it and does not accepted either they just ignore. Even though this is still a step toward the right direction and I am confident that over the time thing will get even better. |

Well, that's not much. Come to think of it, I've never talked BTC with my Italian friends. I'll bring the subject when I'm going back, this Wednesday, but I'm not expecting much. According to the number of posts in different languages on this board, Italy is in front of France, but behind Germany. |

OP is a serial news poster, so no surprise that it's not written by him/her. That aside, Bitcoin is getting better at adoption in Europe it seems, with businesses opening up to it. Arnhem in the Netherlands calls itself Bitcoin city, and last weekend just held their annual repeat of Bitcoinfest (not sure of the exact name). |
