So I recently made the mistake of buying the $150 sapphire 5850's on amazon, and within a month the fans were destroyed (bearings are done).  Meanwhile I have a 6850 that's been running for months by Power Cooler and the fan is not only effective (never goes above 65%, heat peaks around 80C), but also quiet.

So I'm wondering, are there specific brands or cards that have notably better cooling/fans than others?  What are your good/bad experiences?

Thanks,
Daniel

Note: I'm talking about mining 24/7

Stick with the reference design just don't run the fan at more than 50% 24/7. Pretty much any other design is just going to dump the heat from the card back into the case and your temps will rise.

What do you mean by reference design?  And I'm not home during the day, so I'm not sure how I'm going to be regulating keeping the fan < 50%
